Anna's Training Log Part 2 (Part 1)

3 miles- not going to happen during winter…

I think regular giant eagle might be the way to go. They at least have weekly sales on meat

Oh, you must be referring to one of those like micro markets (opposite of supermarket).

Those things are insane. They’re basically just a convenience store with craft beer, wine and fresh food vs. a 7/11 stacked with box beer and bad chicken sammiches.

If you don’t mind my asking, where are you? Generally. Not necessarily specific.

On campus. Giant eagle is about 1.2 miles up squirrel hill. Market district is 1.5 miles away- down Morewood to UPMC Shadyside then go straight. Aldis is somewhere accross a large scary bridge that may or may not have pedestrian walkway

Oh! That explains it! Anything in town is going to cost significantly more.

That’s the Homestead Gray’s bridge. There is walkway on both sides. You might piss yourself when a truck goes by and the whole thing waves a tiny bit. A tiny bit when you’re 50 feet above the water looks and feels completely different.

That Aldi is pretty decent too. I used to stop in there after work all the time when my buddies had their warehouse/web store like two blocks down the road.

Doesn’t your campus give you a bus pass for free? When I was at university we could ride the city buses anywhere for free. It was easy enough to get across town to the grocery store and pick stuff up if need be. Bonus - they are heated in the winter.

yes they do.
The bus schedule is weird though

Week 9: Day 2 (yesterday)

Deadlift: 10x5-95kg
3x(5 clean pulls-60kg+20 plank hip dips+20 crunches)
NG chins: 5x4
50 burpees

  • deadlifts were hard but not as bad as expected- in hindlight, it was becasue it was 210, not 215, very HAPPY with chins, clean pulls felt fast and good

Week 9: Day 3

Giant set 1: bench- facepull-tricep pushdown
3x(10 bench-95lbs+15 facepulls-22.5lbs+15 tricep pushdowns-22.5lbs)

Giant set 2: close grip bench facepull-tricep pushdown
3x(10 close grip bench-75lbs+15 facepulls-22.5lbs+15 tricep pushdowns-22.5lbs)

Giant set 3: incline bench- facepull-tricep pushdown
3x(10 incline bench- 65lbs +15 facepulls-22.5lbs+15 tricep pushdowns-22.5lbs)

6x(3 NG chins+10 dips)

  • didn’t feel as crap as expected after deadlifts- upper back felt pretty dead though, very happy w/bench,

Schedule #54.

Lots of people get from as far out as where I live into and around town every day for work, play, events, concerts, etc.

In fact, a developer is almost finished building an entire neighborhood of single family homes, town homes and condos right across from my neighborhood, based largely on its proximity to the T.

Easy for me to say though. I’ve been using the streetcars since I was 5.

Week 9: Day 4- SQUATS!!!

Superset: squat- ng chin
3x(3 squat-80kg+3 chins), 2x(4-75kg+3 chins), 1x(6-70kg+3 chins), 3 chins

Back squat: 2x4-60kg, beltless w/ 3sec pause at bottom
Front squat: 4x2- 60kg
RDL: 2x5-70kg

  • legs not sore and didn’t feel too tired going in, but stomach slightly upset and cramping, squats didn’t even feel heavy on by back but just had no power- I suspect I’m just not completely recovered from the deadlifts, chins were a breeze and front squats were extremely smooth- quite surprised, cut RDLs short b/c stomach and skipped burpees for same reason, not as mentally strong as @ChongLordUno

Week 9: Day 5

Press: 10x1-40kg, 4x(4 press(clean each rep)+10 rows)-35lbs
Power cleans: 1x5-35kg, 4x1-40kg
Pendlay row: 2x5-50kg
Kickboxing 6x(20sec/side+20sec rest)
Raises: 3x(10 front raises+10 lateral raises)-5lb Dbs, no rest

  • stomach still way off, so took it slow and easy, really happy w/ singles, the sets at 35kg were rough though, played around w/ power cleans and rows

Fixed.

Sounds like you’re finding your way around a little.

You going off campus?

Sorority house across from the student center.

2min from gym

Good! You’ll have everything you need to succeed right near by.

I knew a professor down at Pitt that lived right over in Shadyside and she only ever used her car to go like, long distances, not for shopping or grabbing a bite, going to work or other general getting around stuff.

So, have you gotten out and about a little bit, or are you just diving right in to the coursework?

I’m just visiting for 10 days (leave thursday, come back 8/18th)

I went with a group of friends to the aviary, but otherwise just walking around a bit. I still have to do work and my stomach has been on rebellion so not much motivation to get out much.
