Anna's Training Log Part 2 (Part 1)

Need help with decision: should I do my squat workout today

Pro:

  1. I’ve taken the last two days basically off (did a short 20min cardio bodyweight workout yesterday, doesn’t count)
  2. It fits w/ schedule. I leave on Thursday afternoon and doing the heavy squat workout today instead of procrastinating until tomorrow will let me get in a heavy workout in before going back to light weights
  3. Legs aren’t sore and a lot of ppl have great workouts Nader worse conditions

Con:

  1. Stomach stopped cramping but still not feeling 100% and very bloated
  2. Generally feel tired and blah, want to go back to sleep

Do the workout, then eat appropriately to fuel it.

Okay, what if I modified a bit. Instead of 10x5 at 75kg for main work, I did 5x(3 front squat + 5back squat) at 60kg. Then attempt something heavier on Thursday

This might be wasting a chance to go heavy, but I’m getting some serious anxiety

Honestly, I kind of want to just do nothing for a week, sleep and eat everything…

Eat before your workout - carbs and some fats (i.e. oatmeal with whole milk + blueberries)
Just do the 10x5 and then decide if you have the energy for “accessories” (I hate that term).

Eat after your workout.

Do this…you are returning to school soon and are going to more stressed than ever. Read a book for fun. Go out with friends while you are in your “college town”.

At the risk of sounding like a dick

But if you’re looking for permission to do some hard work then you’ve already lost the battle.

Just get shit done

Had honey and butter

@ChongLordUno @dagill2 Thanks for the tough love. I’ll do my best

These are condiments not real food.

I agree, but roommate/host was sleeping and other “real food” would have required making noise to cook or stealing her stuff (I’m already living there rent free)

I have veggies, chicken breast, chicken thighs chicken sausage, egg whites, butter and honey. I finished the last of my cheese (subsidized by mum) yesterday

On set 4 rn and feeling good.

 Sometimes you crack me up anna. You’re like smack dab in the epicenter of about, literally 100,000 people who get hungry like clockwork acting like you can’t find an egg sandwich at 8:00 in the morning.

For free?

I’m entitled but not THAT entitled :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Once again .

Come on kiddo. Let’s be real for a moment, shall we?

I got the workout done and then some. Felt fine. Just whining as usual

Don’t tell yourself stories about how you always whine. It’s a self fulfilling prophecy.

Yeah, I know that feels good some times. Not saying you shouldn’t let it out.

But it’s also ok to be who you are. Like, correct me if I’m wrong, but you’ve eaten at restaurants and taken dumps that cost more than my car.

No need to pretend you’re scrounging for food.

If you’re having food anxiety and a hard time making decisions, just be straight with us. Plenty of people here are willing to help, but you gotta meet them (us) half way.

Cuz what you wrote is one thing, but a little deciphering reveals

“I’m nervous, anxious, and upset. I’m going to do a fasted lifting session and blame it on my host.
Do I have a select few people to cosign my plan?”.

It’s kinda like (almost exactly) when my old sponsorees would lay out all of their reasons to drink.

I’d ask them then, very directly “Are you asking my permission to drink, or do you want to stay sober?”.

The vast majority of time they would say “Yeah! I mean, I want to stay sober…”

Then they would go drink.

Now I know my little vignettes can be kind of off-putting, but I don’t want you to take this stuff as a reprimand.

It’s actually a reaching out.

Yes. Big difference is that parents are funding those meals. The point of this is to see how I manage without family support and part of that is figuring out appropriate and inappropriate times to spend money

I already spent more than budgeted on groceries and have more than enough food in the fridge. I didn’t think it was worth it to spend nearly $4 on a sandwich that would probably upset my stomach bc of shitty oil and non-gluten free bread

This was a hard one for me to learn when starting budgeting, but food is always appropriate to spend money on even if slightly over budget. Also - if you had food in the fridge why couldn’t you have eaten that?

And, take your parents support as long as they will provide. Yeah, I know it beholds you to them a bit, but I am pretty sure you can convince your parents to let you buy whatever organic food you want.

I’m not sure about this. I was looking for permission to skip. Did not get such permission so I didn’t skip. Turned out not skipping was the good choice. Lesson learned: don’t skip until after the first 3 sets

Raw eggs, chicken or chicken sausage or cabbage didn’t sound appealing.
