Definitely not mental. That feeling is likely because you are eating nutrient deficient calories. Hunger is your body telling you it needs something. One can get in tune with this feeling quite a bit. When I was training for MMA and working out 3+ hours 5 or 6 days a week, I could tell if my hunger was for protein or carbohydrates.
Also, feeling more hungry on lifting days is logical. You are burning more calories therefore your body wants more. Likely a stronger bodily drive in your case (compared to others here) given the nutrition/eating issues we have discussed ad nauseum here.
The problem is that I’m not exactly sure if it ISN’T in my head. If it’s in my head, the effects are probably real, but I have more control over whether they manifest
Of course hunger is in your head, it is a physiological signal sent by your body to the brain that says “Hey, brain, I am need of some energy”. The brain than releases the “hunger hormone” (can’t remember the name right now). Which makes you feel hungry. You feel hungry because you need to eat. Period.
I am a big believer in manifesting many things with willpower (I often use the technique of picturing myself getting bigger/moving more weight before a set in the gym) but hunger is not one those things that can/should be “manifested”.
3x(9min eliptical- change resistance each minute+2 kickboxing combos-10/side+10 bird dogs/side)
6x(45sec plank+15sec rest)
4x(5kb snatch+20 alt 1 arm swings)-25lbs, switch arms on snatch each round
KB rows: 5x10/side-25lbs, min rest
upper back DEAD and pretty tired, still no excuse to slack off, got HR up- really digging the eliptical, felt good
project got delayed another week b/c I failed to catch typos, It’s my problem that I have poor attention to detail, but I wish he wasn’t so picky. My friend’s advisor isn’t like this nor is my other advisor. My other advisor (for a project next semester) took a look at my proposal and said that the IDEA sucked. When I was working on the proposal for my current project with my current advisor, he took a look and refused to look past the second paragraph because I misplaced a couple of commas
Maybe it’s all for the best… who knows…
I THINK I fixed all the typos this time
Speaking of my friend- he finished a draft of his paper… it’s so impressive… in the meantime, I’m here spinning my wheels b’c I missed a few commas
This is the abstract for his project:
We consider the many-to-many deterministic assignment of objects to agents with a priority structure such as the one in undergraduate course allocation. In order to incorporate course priorities, we develop a mechanism based on the approximate competitive equilibrium from equal incomes, which assigns different prices for the same course to students at differing levels of priority. This novel mech- anism, the Pseudo-Market with Priorities mechanism, bounds envy by a single course with respect to the priority structure, is strategy-proof in the large, and maintains a small upper bound on the market- clearing error. In a simulated environment, we show that this mechanism increases student utility and outcome fairness when compared to the commonly used random serial dictatorship mechanism, which enforces the priority structure through an ex-ante selection of set-aside seats for students of certain majors in each course. Additionally, the Pseudo-Market with Priorities endogenously computes the set-asides necessary for a course, ensuring that students receive courses required by their majors with- out leaving set-aside seats unassigned.
On a more positive note, he shared his schedule with me without me asking. mentioned it on FF, but I’m essentially ditching lab meeting to take a class with him
Re: your abstract -
This is not my field of study so that may be part of my issue, but I from what you wrote above I cannot determine what your paper is trying to prove/conclude. Normally I can read abstracts from most other fields and understand at least the point of the paper. Abstract should state the problem than the outcome “we show that…” (this part you have). The problem is not clear here.
Again, I may be missing it since this isn’t my field, but i figure since you tagged me you might be interested in 2-bits worth.
Ahh, well I have no doubt he is smart, but I reiterate my point that his abstract provides more confusion than clarity to a non (whatever this field is - sorry forgot).
You may not want to tell him that if you are trying to impress him though.
It’s economics- market design. He’s using a fancy model to design a more fair and satisfactory course allocation system.
I’ll relay the feedback. He’s not a great writer and his advisors English is quite subpar too. I guess economists care more about the proofs than the writing. The paper also contained quite a few grammatical typos (ran it through grammarly)
They still should have taught him how to write technically. I know you have read enough abstracts to see the pattern no matter the field. 1. Problem Statement 2. Proposed solution or meta-study conducted and how it might defer from past treatises on the subject. 3. Short statement of results (i.e. improved outcomes by X%). I don’t know how it is economics but in a lot of technical writing “we” or other first/second person indications are thrown out.
Squat: 3x6-160lbs, 3x3-135lbs beltless w/3sec pause at bottom, 3x3-135lbs beltless w/3sec descent
Front Squat: 3x1-135lbs
Conditioning @ChongLordUno, highly recommend this one
20 walking lunges (alternating)+ sprint back+40 walking lunges+ sprint back+ 60 walking lunges+sprint back+80 walking lunges+sprint back
really really didn’t feel like deadlifting or pressing so took it easy and played around with squats (LOONNGG rests). the 3x6 moved well but REALLY REALLY hard- got a bit dizzy after sets, killed legs, pretty happy w/ front squats, paused squats sucked, really loved the conditioning thing- easy way to get 200 lunges in, legs felt a bit jelly like after though
Taking day off- upper back felt really crap and don’t feel better after walk.
Legs not too sore but just very tired in general @garagerocker13@SkyzykS not sure if this is a heart issue or normal, but the day after hard leg focused workouts, my chest feel compressed
On the bright side, took a pic, thought I looked good for the first time in a long time
The chest compression feeling is likely a product of just strong bracing without ever really stretching your ribcage/diaphragm out. Mine used to feel like that 24/7 but since I dropped 2 lifting days for a running day and a strongman day it’s been much better.
Also, you look fine, not that much different from any of the other pictures you’ve posted on here. You could still take more into account that you’re likely in the 99th percentile of humanity when it comes to level of physical activity when viewing your eating habits. That’s a statistical way to say you can eat more than any “guidelines” tell you.
I’d look further into that if I were you by asking a cardiologist. I dont know anything about a-fib. Professionally, I’m a welder. Actually though, I’m not very professional.
I can tell when I’ve done too much because I get ischemic pain (angina) which manifests as a short burst of sharp stinging or stabbing inside of the chest, just to the left or right of the sternum.
But, And This is of the Utmost Importance, I have a different condition than you. Mine is left side heart failure. Parts of my heart muscle are dead, and other parts are damaged/scarred due to blockages in the coronary arteries (circumflex and lower right coronary branches).
