Anna's Training Log Part 2 (Part 1)

idk- I’m going to go with some form of psychosomatic reaction

Week 3: Day 6 (Yesterday)

Giant set: Squat- swings- row
5x((3 front squat+5 back squat)-115lbs+20 alt 1 arm swings+10 rows/side)

Superset: Conventional Deadlift- duck walk
3x(8 deadlift-145lbs+ 24 steps/side-25lbs)

RDL: 3x6-135lbs, 2x8-115lbs
5x(40sec squat-25lbs+20sec rest)

  • planned to do presses but upper back pissed so I did lower body hypertrophy instead LOL, got HR up but not as bad as expected, LOVE the squat combo, could have supersetted the RDLs with something or done a couple of more sets, but couldn’t be bothered

Week 4: Day 1
400m walking lunges-25lbs
100 air squats-25lbs
15min weighted walk

  • decided to get some work done after all, got HR up, felt good and got a great pump, once again, I’m reminded to never skip a workout

Update:
The professor I emailed to be my independent research advisor got back to me and offered to let me join a VERY cool project (instead of having to do my own). I’d been planning on doing my own and had done a considerable amount of reading for it.
This is great b/c the project I’m going to join is more interesting to me and now I can save the other one as a senior thesis- YAY!!!

Isn’t everything we experience?

Training is draining physically and mentally.
I suggest a week off to reset. You won’t lose or gain anything.
Since your in Sarasota, a walk on the beach might be a nice break.

Needed to touch back on this.

I’m going with walked 3 miles in the hot Florida afternoon sun, then did what ever at the gym without hydrating.

True or false?

I’m probably going to take some time off after I finish the Candto’s program

False, I did the workout at home first thing in the morning (72F)

Oh well. Hard to keep up with all of this.

So what would have caused a psychosomatic reaction?

the afib thing?

So, now you have atrial fibrillation?

They found that I had it when I went to get my colonoscopy.

Told mum and apparently pretty much all the women on her side (including her) have it.
I didn’t notice anything before the “diagnosis”, which is why I think the feeling is psychosomatic

Okey dokey then. If its not a problem, then its not a problem.

@roo @strongmangoals @dt79
let me clarify what I meant with my post in the FF thread

To me, corporations exist in large part to make money. They do this by creating products that consumers are willing to pay for. Sometimes simply selling stuff isn’t enough to maximize profit so they make use of loopholes, sometimes ethically questionable means.

Although despicable, these actions are economically rational (at least in the short term), which is why I can understand (but do not condone) them. I’m comforted in knowing that these companies don’t have malicious intent- they’re just following economic theory.

Breaking the law is NOT rational; however, using loopholes is, and IMO, it’s not the company’s fault for exploiting them. It’s the system’s fault for creating loopholes. This includes lobbying. If lobbying was legally treated as bribery, companies wouldn’t do so much of it.

I really do believe in market mechanisms. We already see it working with the rise of green tech companies, more companies supporting sustainability and caring about social issues.

On the other hand, I can’t stand it when GOVERNMENTS don’t do the right thing, especially when it goes against economic interests. I can understand profit maximization. i have a hard time understanding narcissism

Also, I am not exactly confident I’d be much more ethical if I were in such a position. It would be hypocritical if I criticized someone for doing something I’d probably do myself. On a similar note, this is also why I don’t support punishing bystanders.

This is where I disagree. Purely economic motives are malicious. To value money above all else, including human life, is evil. In my opinion.

I actually believe in this.

But they are predictable in theory. Which is why I would feel safer. The problem is the anomalies that exist like employees doing stuff like illegally selling your data on the side.

The ultimate goal of corporate social responsibility is also profit maximization.

I think you need to live in a country for some time where you can get anything done efficiently without any surprises from even government departments with some bribe money to get this. @anna_5588 you know what I’m talking about lol.

You hit the nail on the head.

Even on a micro level, in China, I KNOW I’m going to get good service when I give a DOCTOR in a government hospital a bribe. The fucker will distribute some of it to the nurses in charge and everything will go as expected. There are no surprises. It’s developed into both an efficient and predictable system over the decades.

If I don’t, I don’t know what the fuck I’m going to get. Locally, I don’t go to government hospitals because I cannot predict the quality of service I will receive since there’s virtually no bribery going on here. Sometimes I get assholes with attitudes. Sometimes I get good ones.

Exactly! I got top quality treatment for a reasonable price because of my dad’s connections. That pissed me off. I’d much rather get top quality treatment bc my family can pay. Social relations are fickle. Money (what ever form it takes) is a quantifiable, measurable indicator of value

Week 4: Day 2

Clean and Jerk: 32-75lbs
5x(20 alt 1 arm kbs+10 rows/side)-25lbs

Giant set: press- row- curl, 2 min rests
2x(8press-65lbs+8rows-65lbs+14curls-25lbs)
2x(8press-60lbs+8rows-60lbs+14curls-25lbs)

Super set: BTN press- swings
3x(8-45lbs+20 alt 1 arm swings-25lbs)
1x8 (no swings)

3x(5 burpees- add 1 pump at each rep+ 10 kbs-45lbs)

  • felt good going in but still mentally off, didn’t want to bother with sets of 8 so upped the weight and basically did Grace- sucked a lot more than expected LOL, presses felt good and quick, BTN felt really good

Note: I’ve noticed that I’m strangely hungry on lifting day. I just want to eat even though my gut feels full- might be mental??

No.

Whats up with this new behavior of wanting to believe that these real things are “all in your head”?
