Dammit dad! What a missed opportunity.
There’s a reason I avoid aquatic sports
When I was around 7, my brother and I wandered into the seep end with our pool noodles. Some other little fucker stole the noodles and since neither of us could swim, we both starting falling around. I was stronger, so I almost drowned my brother. Luckily the lifeguard came.
My mom found the boy who stole our noodles and gave him a serious tongue lashing. The kid cried and his mom didn’t even bother try defending him
Or at least find someone weaker to use a pool noodle ![]()
Shoulda had someone throw you in.
On a serious note, it’s just an expression, and I almost drowned at 4 and was saved by a lifeguard. But I was made to keep going back and swim, and now I love swimming, and have won the swim portion of a couple triathlons. If only they didn’t involve biking, where you spend most of the race and I consistently get stomped by people who look like the stick insect from A Bug’s Life.
I live in VA! People are so damn friendly here. It’s been a blessing to raise my children in here. When a kid throws a fit in a restaurant people just look on fondly and comment how cute your little demon is.
But I hate their drivers. They’re not assholes, they’re just idiots. In New York, you meant to cut me off - I know it because of your kind hand gesture that accompanied the act. In Virginia, they forgot to get over out of the fast lane in time to safely merge, so they just aimlessly drift across 3 lanes, relying on the kindness and reaction times of strangers to save them.
I know! We’ve probably been around the same places a few times.
I get exactly what you’re saying. It’s the “Oh, darn. Missed my exit. I’m a get on over to get off at the next one…” drift.
What got my wife was the long on ramps straight into 70 mph flow. I tried telling her “Think of it as a runway. It’s not like in PA. Just like Nascar. Hit gas, turn left…”.
Nope. She pulled all the way up to the taper and was like "How do I do this? They’re going too fast… ". ![]()
No quotes: this is self harm.
Many folks say “I would do anything to do XYZ”, but then, when anything shows up, we find out what the limits are. I feel like what you’re discovering, as far as your goals go, is that leanness is more important to you than lifting. Which, again, is fine, so long as you are at peace with that. Issues only occur when we fail to acknowledge that.
I had to do similar soul searching. As much as I love being strong, I’ve made the choice that having a sub 40" waist is more important to me for my goals.
I want to be lean and strong like most other ppl. Just struggling to find a balance.
You seem to be doing both- lean, strong and with incredible work capacity
I’ve explained how to do it to you many times but you refuse to do what it takes to accomplish it.
That’s why I have a therapist
It’s an excellent start. Ensure that you are still doing some introspection outside of therapy. For instance: here you’re given very much a Faustian deal: weights or leanness, and the decision is made: leanness. These situations where you are forced to prioritize are well worth understanding. Often we SAY what our priorities are, only to find out, when push comes to shove, what they REALLY are.
I would just like to stick my nose in and say: everything that @T3hPwnisher said.
What’s the policy like now from your side? I’m hearing different things from China people in different countries and those in China living different provinces. My wife can enter but they won’t renew her passport in her city so unless she renews her’s at the embassy here, she won’t be able to LEAVE China if she travels there. I can easily go in and out but I’d have to spend 2 weeks in quarantine in a fucking government facility.
Well, at least they have wifi there but the government buildings there are fucking shitholes. The toilets at the airport are still the ones with standing urinals with the large zinc plates you piss on without any barriers that I’ve not seen anywhere else in 20 years and the government hospitals have those squatting toilets with the cubicle heights and doors just up to your neck and the doors from the bottom are high enough to leave your feet visible squatting down on a raised platform. I really don’t want to know what the quarantine facilities are like.
If anyone has seen the movie HK movie Prison on Fire - that’s EXACTLY what they’re like.
No one’s allowed in (not even citizens).
Photo checkin
Pic:
Weight: 101.8 -
- I don’t even look like I lift anymore- just a normal girl. I honestly thought I looked better than this
I haven’t been loser with my diet

and my metabolism certainly isn’t kicking in. I HATE this!!! I’m not even setting PRs had a complete meltdown.
Last week:
Weight: 101.4
- last week looked fine. Waist tighter, still have semblance of ab lines
Neither photo is flexed
@Voxel I really hate how things are going, but I’m also noticing that I’m hungrier even though sleep has been better. The plan was to increase next week, but now I’m very hesitant
I know this sounds horrible, but I’m jealous
It’s locking down because it thinks you are dying.
- I don’t perceive the same visual changes that you see comparing those pictures — consider how your own perception of how you look isn’t an objective truth
- 0.4 lbs between two weigh-ins that are a week apart does not necessarily mean weight has been gained. That could be a daily fluctuation
- Sleep improving and hunger increasing are good signs
- I don’t follow what you mean with what I’ve quoted below
It’s like one of those games where you look at two identical pictures and try to spot the difference.
Maybe. Now they I’ve calmed down, I looked back at old photos and it seems that way. Could be that I ate more/less carbs/sodium before taking last weeks photo
I’ll avoid explaining here out of respect for others
