I thought American Pie was a documentary.
This makes me sad to be an American ![]()

The fact your 90lbs and don’t eat lasagna makes me doubt your American-ness.
If we’re being honest, it upset me that they stole the title of an incredible album and song for that film.
Yea but what a pun…
How far?
Sounds familiar.
I agree.
I suggest one of these for breakfast daily:
Look what’s hiding under the eggs!
Lol, what the hell is that.
Microvaved potato dusted with black pepper and anise, pad of butter, 2 large eggs that got a little out of hand.
Breakfast more often than not, but also a nice afternoon snack.
by about 1/2 (I was probably averaging at LEAST 4000-5000 mg) apparently 1 tsp is already 2000 WTF!
Well yes. In the sodium chloride molecule sodium is about 40%.
I really can’t predict how reducing sodium in the short term will effect you. I can only tell you that for me I was pretty run down for quite a while, but I cut it hard and fast. The exercise physiologist at cardiac rehab did say it takes some time to adjust.
As stated above, It’s also really easy to go too far with reducing intake. I did a few times and ended up feeling pretty badly for it.
Not sure about your outdoor activity level, but the sun and heat can be brutal, and I’d really strongly suggest professional consultation on this.
Keep some Gatorade and potato chips handy, at least.
Anyone here know how much salt two kidneys contra one can take? My salt intake is pretty high but I do not feel like it’s causing me any problems and I’m just curious. Especially with people that exercise a lot I’ve read that the RDA does not apply.
My doctor suggested cutting down on sodium and it’s not really worth fighting with my mom.
I feel fine now, but if I start feeling worse or start cramping, I’ll find a way to increase (we did get mustard, so if all else fails, I’ll spoon that like I did back in Pittsburgh)
Again, it feels like you’re doing this for your mum or your doctors benefit.
I can’t wrap my head around the idea that you wouldn’t want to look after your own health for yourself.
Well, I agree with what they’re saying so I’m doing it instead of finding ways to sneak in salt.
Dialysis would be worse for my lifting and career than even having kids
I’ve not gotten any cramping from reduced sodium.
What I’ve found is that a sodium/potassium intake of about 1/2, in my case about 1500/3000 ratio (in mg.) works pretty well, and that includes weights/conditioning, and now tree work.
There’s some built in wiggle room there for more or less of each. Day to day isn’t critical, but keeping them in that range is important.
After looking into their roles it’s hard to consider sodium in isolation, without looking at potassium.
Since you’ve done an audit of sodium intake, might as well do the same with potassium.
This would be quite hard since I don’t measure veggies. Also I have to watch potassium for kidney reasons
I’ve cramped a LOT less since coming to Florida (when sodium got jacked up), which is why I brought it up
I have a pretty personal question. Often times when things are suggested or stated in here that you presumabely don’t like to hear, you seemingly ignore them.
You don’t respond but also don’t tell the author’s of said statements to fuck off or anything like that.
I really wonder how your internal response is when reading these concerns? Do you ignore them, do they hurt you or do you take them to heart but you can’t discuss them further, etc.? There are tons of examples for this but one that sticks out to me is the lack of response when someone suggests seeking professional help, like Allberg did last a few posts up.
The reason I ask is because I don’t want to hurt you or get on your nerves in an unnecessary way and I’m not sure if repeating the same things over and over again is doing anything helpful for you. I mean you know by now that the general tone here is one of concern, that couldn’t have gone past you.
Nothing said on this log hurts me. Sometimes I post stuff to try to get validation for when I’m tired or am tempted to go into a deficit after feeling fluffy.
Other times, I’m genuinely confused
I try not to piss off ppl who care
That’s good to hear.
What are ypur thoughts on speaking to a professional? A therapist for example? To see what they think.
Edit: I wouldn’t be pissed off if you said you didn’t want my opinion on something or don’t want to discuss something in such a private way. That’s setting boundaries.
This is something I’ve noticed pretty prominently as well. I’ve also been curious on what the internal process is here.
