Have you ever been seriously injured doing deadlifts? This weekend I injured my spinal erectors on a max attempt
-
What makes you choose conventional over sumo?
Andy, I just finished my first meet. Do you reccomend training raw in the off season?
Think we’ll ever see a 500kg deadlift in competition?

When deadlifting I have been told to keep my eyes on the ceiling through the lift to involve the legs more instead of the back. Do you think this is proper form ? I see you keep your head neutral in the video.
Ok i have heard this also, the only problem with this is you will loose all sense of balance and most likely fall over, keep head neutral, check this out for form

How close to your dl max do you train and how often? If you do notice strength going down, do you alternate to a different dl variation or make any changes in volume and intensity? How often do you test a max if ever?
I dont train too close to max off season i will go to 900/950 from low boards and 800 max floor,i will change around as i feel is needed and i never test my max thats for compitition day,
follow my training log to see how i do it and also if you sign up for my FREE newsletter it will give you lots of training tips.

Well lets be honest did anybody think we would see a 1000lb deadlift,so the answer is anything is possible if you work hard and have a little luck.

Yes i would train raw for a little while to give your body a rest, then when you feel ready start putting the kit on again.
Best way to recover from a recurring glute injury? Keeps happening, i’ve had my form checked and that’s not the issue, and it’s really becoming a hinderance.
First of all, congratulations on your huge lifts.
Mr. Bolton, I want to have a huge DL. If I don’t squat, am I missing out on something, nothing, or a lot?
i.e., how important is the squat in building the DL? (also, is the squat still important if I leg press and/or do heavy single leg work?)
(my gym doesn’t yet have a squat rack)
Thank you,
SE
If you were to use 15-20 minutes twice a week to improve your grip, how would you do this, and how would this weakness affect your choise of main deadlift movement?
Andy, great to see you no the site and your newsletter tips are always great.
What do you feel is the biggest difference between training for raw competition and training for geared?
What exactly runs through your head when you look at 1000+ lbs on the floor right up until you start to pull?
What do you do to prevent biceps tears? Thanks a whole lot for answering our questions!
Andy, you mentioned that some speed work off the floor helps the deadlift, could you give an example of this please? Speed deads, cleans, that sort of thing?
Cheers mate, you’re sure to beat 1015 shortly!
What do you do for power off of the floor through mid-shin?
This is awesome.
How do you feel about zercher squats/deadlifts? Obviously for someone at your size and strength, it might not be as beneficial… but what about your average 181-242er?
Do you do any upper back training for lockout purposes?

Hi Andy,

What are the main cues you use to keep pressure on the glutes and hamstrings and not the back?

What do you think is the optimal frequency to deadlift for a sprinter/non powerlifter?
Many thanks!
1 to be honest i dont,i just go with how i feel and adjust things as i go.
2 for a non powerlifter i would say 2 to 3 times is possible as they are not training for a all out max, they need to work on the explosive part of the movement and not going too heavy so allows them to train more often.

If you want a big conventional deadlift then train conventional deadlift and train from all heights to work all sticking points, also some pulley work
