No kidding. I think I remember reading that the first time Shane Hamman squatted he did almost 600 pounds.
one could only imagine how this guy would have done had he gotten into olympic weightlifting instead of powerlifting
I’d disagree, Hanley, with what you posted on the powerliftinguk thread that elite pimps the ghr and rev hypers as the only way to train the posterior chain. I can’t count the number of times I’ve read an answer to the question “my gym doesnt have a rev hyper/ghr, what should I do,” with Wendler saying numerous tiems that it doesnt matter, just pick a few exercises and get strong.
In fact, I even rememebr Wendler making reference to the rev hyper never doing much for him. I know bartley, and I think one or 2 other guys have advocated leg presses - definitely not trendy in this “functional training” day and age - on the logic of “hey, ya squat with your legs, dont you?”
Additionally, I dont think its a case of EFS pimping GHRs/Rev Hypers cuz thats what htey have to sell. I believe that they chose to sell them because that is what Dave sincerely believes in. They’ve never said RDLs, Back Exts, etc woudlnt work but seeing as how Dave lifted at westside from, what, teh early- mid-90s til '05, he’s selling what he knows best
