I’m having a hard time buying the notion that Synthroid adversely affects the gel absorption. I don’t have a thyroid anymore and I take Synthroid. I’m also taking Testim 5g (1 tube daily) along with Arimidex (1mg a week). My T4 and TSH levels are in range now. My total and free T levels are out of range on the high end.
I’ve never heard of this theory before. If there are studies out there I’d like to see them. Anyway, I guess reactions to Synthroid and the gels can vary from one person to the next. For me, it hasn’t been a problem. [/quote]
I wish I still had the links I used for the printouts I showed my previous doctor.
I believe there is a misunderstanding here, hypothyroid people as a rule are usually not good absorbers of the the T gel/cremes. Not Synthroid itself causing the problem, the low thyroid/adrenal suppressed issue being the problem.
Here’s an interesting point: you take T4 and your T4 levels are fine, that’s easy actually. What I want to know is where is your T3 level at? That’s the real question. I’m glad to hear your T levels are great and high too. Since everybody is different even with the same diagnosis, no two cases are the same. You are obviously one of the “responders” we don’t often hear about, most are not. I hope I settled the confusion…
