hopefully i’ll get the #2 in a day or two. my hands aren’t overall big but are very meaty. my rings look like braclets. i can see how having big hands with long fingers would be a huge advantage.
being as hard headed as i am, i’ll eventually work my way up to the #4. I’ll probably be buried with it though. [/quote]
I just checked the Ironmind site. They only have five people listed as having officially closed the #4 gripper - one of them being Magnus Samuelsson. Wow.

i would say i could stand on it but i would have to weight 365lbs for that to work.

when are you coming out to train with us again?? we will be benching tomorrow at 2. it will only be me and two other guys. I"m also bringing my neighbor’s kid who just graduated from college. he wants to get into powerlifting. i’m going to put him through the sink or swim approach. he will either walk away loving it tomorrow or will never again step foot in a powerlifting gym.

I am definitely going to make it out there again soon. I have to train tomorrow morning because I’m getting dragged to some birthday party or some such function. How big is this kid that is coming? Has he ever lifted weights before? Regardless, should make for some good entertainment. BTW, how is Dave doing? Ryan told me had some kind of nasty workplace accident. Sounded gruesome.
beard update- bodyfat continues to drop and the only way to keep my strength up is to allow the beard to keep growing. i figure it will take a full year of growth will put my strength levels through the roof.
here’s where i’m at now.

I tried to look, I swear, but I kept getting blinded by the awesomeness
Billy Gibbons approves.

he’s a big kid…about 6’ and 270. he carries a good bit of bodyfat though and hasn’t ever done any serious lifting…should be interesting.
Dave is a steel worker that installs big ass windows in high rises. he was on the worksite about six months ago and was walking a window that weighed about a ton across a sidewalk on a caddy. a kid was on the back side and lost his balance. dave had his foot off the curb and the window fell on him and it snapped his lower leg in half. apparently bone shot across the street. he had a gap of a inch or two of missing bone in his tibia. he as doing well but recently the bone growth has started to regress. he has to start using a bone stimulator. he hasn’t been back to work or the gym unfortunately.
Man that sounds awful. Give him some get well wishes from me next time you talk to him.
bench’n- i feel like i’ve finally adjusted to training on on carbs. the only draw back is that i feel really good through the heavy stuff but once we get to the rep stuff i really hit the wall midway through the sets.
bench press against bands-paused
135x10
225x6

swiss bar bench press- paused

315x6
circuit
tate press, incline dumbell extensions, dips, rope pushdowns
some x 10 x 3
Awesome bench against bands. Not sure how your bench is increasing while you’re dropping weight-must be the beard!
On a side note that is as quiet as I’ve ever heard your gym.

thanks my brother.
i brought my neighbor’s son along with me today. he just graduated from college and thinks he wants to become a powerlifter. I spent the entire session giving him suggestions and didn’t want to talk over the blasting metal.

So, how did he take to it?

he did really well. he follows direction well and has a good sense of body position. It looks like he will be joining and training why our group. He also asked what equipment he needed and already ordered it.
Having never trainined seriously he benched 295 against bands for 4 reps. His biggest hurdle will be learning to eat properly.
deadlift’n- we started a new cycle where we are pulling against doubled minis. they really kick in at knee level.
deads against bands
135x6
185x6
245x6
295x6
335x4
385x2
445x1
495x1
deadlifts for reps- deadstop between reps
225x4
315x4
365x4
405x4
475x10- 4 reps was the prescribed amount this week but i kept going. i could have gotten even more but stopped at 10
seated SSB good mornings to pins
135x6
185x6
185x10
conditioning work
we push and pulled the prowler for awhile…
Nice looking deads… I bet they are feelin good with the bodyfat loss, positioning wise… besides the no carb part and all.

i can definitely get into position so much easier. i think my rep pulling has gotten easier because of all the conditioning work i’ve been doing. i don’t log it but i do something pretty much everyday now. i feel like i’ve adjusted to the low carb now. i’m drinking caffeine while i train though and that seeems to help.
I haven’t run into you guys training in about 2-3 weeks and I look onto your log and see you doing bodybuilding poses? That kid that wears spandex must really be rubbing off on you. HAHA. I’ll be back next week, just got LASIK last weekend and I doc say to hold off on heavy lifting for a week.
overhead pressing and other accessory crap- my conditioning level is really improving. today was tough but i felt awesome all the way through…even with next to no carbs in my system.
overhead pressing
0x10
95x6
135x6
185x6
225x6
255x6
275x6
295x9- we had the bay door open which made videoing this set pretty crappy. very happy with it though… this was a huge rep PR with this weight.
pullups
BW x 10
BW + 45lbs x 10
BW x 15
rope pulls from hell- these suck so bad that i’ve renamed them “the soul eater” this movement slowly eats your soul and will to live throughout the set. what makes it really hard is the fact that it’s a nylon rope… you can’t grip it and chalk on your hands makes it even harder to hold onto.
5-25’s down to 2-25’s
6-25’s down to 2-25’s
bicepzzz curls circuit
incline dumbell curlzz, preacher hammer curlzz and reverse grip barbell curlzzz… all done thumbless.
some x 20 x 2
this session sucked in the most awesome way possible.
Looks like my basement videos but you can see enough to know that was a monster set my brother. Last rep was super impressive, if I get stuck in that spot it isn’t going up-pure strength pushed that up.

thanks my brother…i contribute my lockout strength to all the tricep work we do.
