Hey there! Im on my 8th day right now. The first seven days were terrible, i had few symptoms such as headache, fatigue, lack of energy, lack of concentration, insomnia, bad taste in my mouth, just to name a few… but today i woke up and feel like i could move mountains out of my way  Im really energized and focus! Seems that i went through the metabolic shift or something. Is that possible, after only 8 days?? Hope tomorrow is going to be another good one.

Nice thread BTW,
Frank

Just finished my first carb load weekend after 14 days of no carbs…gotta say it is funny being 4 lbs heavier on Sunday might but looking leaner. Is that pretty normal?
It is. And it’s awesome.

You’re muscles fill up w/ glycogen and I feel like they suck up the layer of water under your skin making you look leaner. I find I look my best on Sundays or Mondays (1-2 days after carbs).

Congrats on making it though the 14 days.

Well I just carbed up as normal this weekend after all but kept it lower GI and clean with mainly grains, vegetables and fruit (a LOT of fiber LOL). Not going overboard on carb up days and still very strictly watching my macro’s and keeping my calories in check too, I need to cut. Seemed like I kinda got a buzz from a smoothie yesterday morning with blueberries/strawberries, protein, oatmeal, spinach and fiber but didn’t feel too bad. Workout seemed to go fairly well and not sure it was hindered from the carbs.

This mornings smoothie seemed to almost knock me out. Got little sleep last night so not sure if it was the carbs that put me out or a combo.

What do you guys do for your pre-bed meals?
How long before bed?
How many calories?
I don’t want this to impede my fat loss, but trying to follow the diet.
I’ve been doing maybe 2-4oz chicken breast w/some fish oil or casein (1 carb) w/ oil right at bedtime.
Pre-bed is a big meal. I come home from work eat a quik snack before i hit the gym, than after training a shake, one hour later, meat, veggies, nuts, Oh and a test booster lol. One hour later sleepy time.

Hey guys im about to carb up this weekend and was wondering what is the proper time for training with this diet? I mean, should i workout on saturday and sunday? Or should i rest and workout on monday, wednesday and friday? I have a 3days split routine and usually workout 4x per week. I try to keep 1 day off between every workout. Is it correct to workout during the carb up? Also i would be interested to see what your carbup diet looks like. Thanks!

Working out on carb ups is like a bonus. Not absolutely necessary but it’ll further help pull carbs into muscle.

Alright thanks. Nowhere in the book it is mentionned what would be the optimal working days on this diet. I think im going to try working out on saturday, sunday, rest for 1 day, tuesday, wednesday, rest 2 days. Repeat. Hope this make sense.

I find it good to workout at the start of a carb day, before I consume carbs. If I eat carbs first my workout tends to be lazyer. That’s just me though. Heck maybe we can get some of the non-insulin dependent GLUT benefits them CBL guys are raving bout.

had to cut the carbup short a couple meals. went right back to pro/fat meals. i much prefer bacon, eggs, steak, and sausage over pizza and junk now. fucking weird. if you put a bowl of roasted pecans and a sandwich in front of me, id probably pick the pecans.

unless workout performance takes a serious decline i cant see myself carbing up every weekend either.

i did a workout on my first carbup day and it sucked balls. too lethargic. all that serotonin makes me sleepy lol.

3 bottles of dymatize recoup and 2lbs of bulk bcaa’s have arrived! 20g of bcaa’s periworkout anyone?? lol

I started the Anabolic Diet on June 16th, today being July 4th, this is my 19th day.

I weighed around 207 when I started the diet. Today I weighed about 209 in the morning (coming out of carbing up this past weekend. I definitely feel and look leaner in the mirror.

I go to a holistic doctor, and she tracks me BMI and weight etc. On May 29th I weighed 223lb, and had 22.1% Body fat. On Monday, (5 weeks later) I weighed 216.5lb (all my clothes on, different scale) and had a 20.3% body fat. Keep in mind I was eating complete shit and was basically sedentary until June 16th. I am assuming most of this progress was made since I started dieting exercising.

My question is, at what point would it be reasonable to see a more consistent drop in actual scale weight? It just seems strange that although I have lost a lot of fat(think) and probably gained some muscle (been training 4 days a week, about 1-1.5 hours a session including HIIT after lifting) that I am 2lbs heavier than when I started 2 weeks ago.

Stay the course, or make some adjustments?

Thanks!

Wouldn’t that affect your muscles?

Sounds good. I take 5g pre, 5g intra, 5g post workout. I think this is way enough considering all the protein we eat with this diet.

@WBB,

I agree the junk carbs can be too much sometimes. I do look forward to them every weekend though. I just love waffles, pancakes, and muffings… and sushi… and pasta…

I’ve also found that I’m more sensitive to sugar. If I have too much I’ll feel like shit and break out some the next week.

JK

Hey i have a stupid question. I hope im not messing up my induction phase… I take a coffee every morning, with a pack of sugar twin, which i just realised contain dextrose. The nutrition fact says 0 carbs, but the ingredient says there is dextrose. Should i be worried about that, or is it simply counted as of my 30g of carbs per day? The pack is only 1g. So i guess its only 1 carb? I just read on an other thread to stay away from free sugar jello since it contain aspartame, so im a bit worried now… Yeah that sounds stupid i know.

they would get flat as shit from no carbs, but im not losing any strength, im gaining, so i cant see any downsides.

LOL wouldnt worry about it.

anybody taking 5htp to help with sleep? im having trouble falling asleep again, im assuming from low serotonin because theres no carbs in the diet.
