do you guys get headaches the morning after your carb ups? i do 2-3 AD days then carbup and always get a headache the next morning! im thinking its either dehydration or low blood sugar from all the high GI carbs.[/quote]

I notice dehydration on Sunday mornings as well. I guess it’s those carbs pulling water.

yea good point. i usually lose 3-5lbs of water weight during my low carb days. then all those carbs pulling in whatever water i have left in my body.

Hi Guys,
I have tried this diet before and have the problem on carb up days of eating junk and then going off my diet. My solution is to have a carb up meals Saturday night and Wednesday morning consisting of stuff I plan out before hand.

How does this look?
Saturday Night:
Half a gluten free pizza, 2 large sweet potatoes made into somthing like fries, 1 can of coke, Half a swiss choclate bar, fruit
Wednesday Morning:
A bunch of oatmeal, fruit, 2 large sweet potatoes made into somthing like harshbrowns

Is this enough carbs? How many should I shoot for, 300+? Should I stay away from simple sugars on carb up like honey and maple syrup? I heard frutose isn’t that great either because it just goes to the liver not muscle.

I have a bout a 100 pounds to lose. 1/2 hour slow jogghing 2 days a week, HIT twice a week, Lifting 4 days a week. Sunday off.

Sorry for the long question, thanks in advance.

In order to be able to answer that question we have to know how many calories do you eat during your carb up? On carb up days 60% of your cal should come from carbs. So basically your cal x 60% /4 will give you the answer.

I am not currently counting calories, just basically sticking to 2 large meals and 2 protein shakes a day. I am basically looking to get enough carbs in to refill my glycogen and have a bit of a treat but not screw myself.

@CosmeticChampion: AD is set up to not eat carbs for a minimum of 5 days with a weekly carb up. On your carb ups I would definatly try and stay away from simple sugars. Start with at 48 hour carb up and see how that works. Since you have a lot to lose you’ll probably be able to ride that gravy train for a while. When your progress stalls go to a 36 hour carb up… Then 24. In the beginning don’t stress too much. Focus on getting fat adapted and getting used to the cyclic nature of the diet. Once you get into the swing of things in a few months you can start pulling out ace cards to continue your progress.

Cheers,
JK

Hey guys, just bought a tube of vpx no shotgun mhf-1 for my pre/intra wo shake and just realised it containt sucralean brand sucralose. Doh! The nutrient label says 0 carbs though. What’s your thoughts on this? Should i worry about that on low carb days?? I actually take only 1/2 or even 1/3 of a serve just to mix with my bcaa.

Thanks

Do you think its ok to take it on low carbs days? Dr D say you can eat free-sugar jello but the aspartame make me feel weird and gave my a bad taste in mouth. What’s your thoughts on this? I think you’re fine.

Have you ever tried caffeine caps for pre-WO energy? I don’t need them now, but when I was in cutting mode they came in handy. All it took was 200-400mg.

Holy Shit, this is my third week doing the carb-loads and my pee is bright yellow!

i drank a gallon of water so i know im not dehydrated, maybe it’s my body getting rid of unused ketones? im guessing this is bad and i should stop eating for the day and get back on the fats tomorrow right?

its reallly yellow lol

thats usually just b-vitamins you may be taking in from your multivitamin. i only notice the toxic yellow coloured urine when i eat alot of carbs, not so much on my low carb days. and NO nothing to be worried about, keep on your planned course.

As per MODOKs guidance, I did BBB to kick off the first 6 weeks of my recomp. It’s brutal, but awesome. When my schedule lines back out I hope we’ll run it during my bulk too.

I think you’re results are going to rock. You may need to up your calories to handle the ramps though. I was normally winded the majority of the workout… lol

yea definitely gonna need more calories lol. i only had 3 eggs fried in coconut oil and 5oz of chicken breast before the workout and i was coughing up my lungs the entire 40 minutes. oh yea another plus is the workouts only take like 40-45 minutes… win win.

Holy hell, I’d probably pass out if that’s all I ate before a ramp!! The bad news is the 3rd week ramp was taking me an hour and 15min to and hour and 30 min to complete. The 4th week when we deceased the volume was awesome… I felt like a boss.

Did the daily carbs catch up with ya or do you just prefer AD over all?

ohh they caught up with me alright. after about 6 weeks it was like my insulin sensitivity just went down the toilet. held tons of water weight, couldnt fit into any of my pants, was getting blood sugar swings. i lost 20lbs! of water weight when i went back to AD eating for a few days.

AD4Life.

did MODOK let you eat ‘dirty’ foods like sausages, hot dogs, beef jerky, pepperoni sticks, etc. to get in the much needed calories for your ramps?

slice a hot dog in half but dont go all the way through, just enough to open it, like a hot dog bun, and place thick pieces of cheese in the middle and melt on the BBQ. o…m…g AD goodness.
