in this song, there is the reference to something being ‘unchained’
are they referring to the chains that we apply to ourselves, or the chains that are put upon us by society.
and, what does the bridge ‘man that shirt is you, you’ll get some leg to-nite for shore…c’mon Dave, gimme a break…One break cuuummmming uuuuup!’ refer to, and how does it add to the overall message in the song?

Damn, they were great back then, huh?!
Well, I always took those lyrics in the chorus to mean that initial burst of energy, rage, motivation etc to do anything after being pent up so long. Like when you let your dog loose… the way he runs around the yard like a nutcase. Or the way you felt as a teen the first time you had sex. You were unchained… and the change was THAT’s the moment you became a man.
lol
Get’n some leg tonite is just a tidy way of saying it.

your thoughts on Lita Ford.[/quote]
Other than her essential role in the Runaways, she wasn’t on my radar screen as a solo artist.
Though I can’t deny she probably had an influence on rocker chicks everywhere… and rocker boys’ wet dreams.

Edgy you’re bringing back good memories. The first concert I ever went to was VanHalen and 38 Special opening for them in Mobile, AL. Had to be '83 or '84. And VanHalen music was in the background during a lot of my good times as a teenager.

Absolutely great song. And they did write/perform some of the best songs in rock history.
But asking me to pick THE best VH song is like asking me which of my wife’s bodyparts is the sexiest. Depends on the day, my mood, etc.
