An Inside Look at College Lifting

This letter of resignation is really interesting stuff. www.elitefts.com/documents/letter_of_resignation.htm

Among other interesting aspects of the letter is this piece of data: “Many [incoming college freshmen football] players could barely squat 225 lbs when they [enter college].”

I liked this letter even if it’s not an actual letter per se. The commentary, from what I understand, is pretty accurate. Too bad.

“In his spare time, he squatted a grand.” Good stuff.

wait a second… so not every dude in college football squats 700 lbs. no way.

The essence of the letter was that too many head football coaches pressure strength coaches to get their players lifting as much as claimed by the competition; that leads to “deadlift assisted” bench maxes and other illegitimate maxes being posted; which leads to a spiralling of BS maxes out of college football programs.

There was a thread here recently about college strength programs where this was brought up. Some posters insisted that they knew their school’s lifts were legit, others that any D1 program was legit.

I expect that there is indeed much BS in some of the reported maxes we hear out there. Take a look at collegiate national PL results - are there any football players showing up?
