Wait, who’s hating on the Professor? Chewie said something about him being condescending and Rainjack started flipping the furniture over and ripping phone books in half, but everybody seems happy to have the Professor back.

I totally got the main point when I first read the piece. I never said otherwise.

I can also see how some people see it as an anti-alcohol rant. Most of the people who see it this way are newer to the site and not familiar with his work. To consider people who don’t openly praise him for this piece as being dumb or whatever resembles cult behavior.

Yes. If currently illegal drugs were to become readily available over the counter like alcohol, there would still be the same people that have excessive personalities getting fucked up on them and doing stupid shit.

The reason alcohol has more fatalities and all the other crap Prof X posted is because there is just more of it out there and it is much easier to get your hands on it. It’s just a numbers game. I’ve heard many a bodybuilder tout this crap and it got old very quickly.

Yawn.
Exactly how many people have you ever heard of “getting fucked up” on steroids? Steroids are not used as recreational drugs in the same ways that alcohol, coke, heroin, etc. are. People who take steroids often do so for one reason-to better their physique or performance. No one goes to a party and “gets fucked up on steroids” and then crashes their car, beats the shit out of someone, or strongarms their way into a sexual encounter (and any example of someone that you can produce who did do that while on androgens, would have been predisposed to that sort of behavior to begin with). This isnt about the amount of drugs, this about the nature of the drugs. Wait wait, I know youre going to come back at me about how steroids cause “roid rage”, insanity, and schizophrenia, right? Wheres the evidence? I could come onto these boards tomorrow and tell you that 95% lean grass fed sirloin was very very bad for you and it would have about as much validity as the bullshit the media says about androgens. Why did all of the major news outlets completely ignore the fact that Chris Benoit was also on high amounts of pain killers, sleeping pills, and had been drinking when he killed his family? I have a feeling that it has something to do with the fact that the people selling the pills and booze slide a nice little chunk of change over to network television in the form of advertising dollars and well, you dont want to alienate your clientel, now do you?

Prof isnt saying you ought to be able to pick up a couple grams of dbol along with a sixer of blue ribbon and a forty at your local quickie mart, but rather that the fact that steroids are being touted as the great destroyer of our culture when there are much more dangerous things out there is irresponsible and asinine.

The lack of reading comprehension and general thinking in this thread is astounding.

Chewie was trying to sound smart. He doesn’t. He can’t.

I particularly like how the newbs line up for their chance to take on the old guys by sounding smarter, or more insightful. 99% of the time it is someone who is obviously in over his head, but is too dumb to realize it. I have no patience for such bullshit.

If you think this is “flipping furniture”, or “ripping phone books” - I suggest you read my posts.

Now Chewie, you know me, I certainly wasn’t referring to you being one of those I called ignorant/ridiculous. You know the ones I’m talking about. The people who make broad general strokes of the brush and twist around what someone else is saying, because they don’t get it themselves. Those are to whom I referred. I am fully aware that some do want to openly praise him and “be a chum” of his for whatever reasons, but that’s not me. I just think that he wrote a damn fine piece here that is really on point.

I don't agree with going "Lord of the Flys", on you like some do. Cmon we're all or most of us are "adults" here. I enjoy the discussions, and don't enjoy when it turns to going off on each other though.

Good post. I could care less about any “praise”. I posted this for discussion. Unfortunately, it seems there are way too many upset that anyone gives a compliment for that to happen. It is too bad that this doesn’t happen across the board. I bet there are still people posting in Caveman’s thread giving him compliments even though he was never even a regular member here or responsive to most of it. You NEVER hear anyone complain about that.

Considering I do believe you can block the posts of any individual here, no one should be posting in a thread because they are upset that someone else posted or that someone agrees with that person.

I don’t know why you decided to turn this thread into a personal attack towards me. Whatever reason, it made your true colors show. You have no substance to any of your argument and you resort to name calling. This is really pathetic. You are the one who is sounding dumb with all these name calling posts.

It’s funny that you think you need to tell me that you are ignoring me.

You got called out for acting tough. How hard is that to admit to?

Like I said - I have no patience for bullshit.

To be honest I believe steroids get a lot of bad rep because they are assosiated with weightlifting. Begin sarcasm: “And everyone knows how bad that is”:

You know it’s really the soccer moms who suck up all of the ‘steroids are bad’ stuff, which they preach to everyone else, as well as how horrible weightlifting is and that it will stunt your growth etc.

Good thing there is Big Brother.
Plenty of people in this world are too weak to take personal responsibility for their actions. Fast food is killing many people yet McDonalds and KFC are full every time I drive past. People know what they should be doing, but they are not. So why would you ever think about legalizing things that can be very harmful if abused.
