Am I Strong?

Does it matter what other people think?

I’m actually not using any gear in my pic, haha. That’s a singlet.

My fed allows knee wraps. Last time I competed, I had no idea what I was doing with them, but now I’m getting a better handle on them.

I was referencing the belt. Do you feel like knee wraps help you a lot? I don’t have a belt or knee/wrist wraps, but I was considering making the purchase within the next year or so. Also, how do you feel about weightlifting shoes?

Yes it matters what other people think. How else would we validate ourselves?

Ah, a belt isn’t gear, it’s just a belt. You definitely are doing yourself a disservice if you are training without one. Get a 13mm lever belt and you’ll feel bulletproof.

I like knee wraps now, but they’re an acquired taste. Once I got my squat to over 500lbs, I needed them, but prior to that I preferred not having them. I never got anything out of wrist wraps, and I think that’s because I use a thumbless grip. Doing that already puts my wrists in a great alignment. I still wear the wrist wraps at meets, just because they’re allowed, but very rarely in training.

Never used weightlifting shoes before. I like lifting in Chucks, and they seem to work well for me.

I share your sentiments about Chucks. I really want to hit 1200 around 200 before I go buy and learn to use equipment/chalk/etc.

Do you recommend a particular brand? I have been looking at Inzer and EliteFTS products for a while.

Only have experience with Inzer when it comes to 13mm lever. It’s an amazing belt, I wish I had purchased it when I started training. I would be much stronger now if I had.
