Am I Crazy???

Good to see you back Doc. Based on your picture, you have a great starting point. You maintained a lot of muscle in the upper back. This will really help with the big lifts.

Based on your previous experiences, great attitude, and knowledge level, you will see results very quickly.

We can’t wait to follow along…keep us updated.

Keeping up the strict diet and training every day, but work has been so long I have only be able to train at my “little” gym. This is fine…I’m upping the volume and intensity which will aid me in my OL/PL lifting. I may split up cleans and benchs on Saturday and squats on Sunday. It’s all good now.

My massage therapist (who is also a personal trainer) told me she felt some improved definition in my triceps and upper back during this week's massage, as well as noticing my gut was tighter. That's foreplay in my book! Doc

My masseur is a tennis ball and the wall. Now that’s foreplay or is that with a golf ball.

Streamline, that may be odd foreplay but for the last year foreplay for me was turning on my computer. (yeah, you know.)

Btw, I looked up your letters on your profile…I’m sorry to say it took this long to read them.

I already knew you were one very determined, no limits kind of guy, but your letter, especially your second, really helped me realize I still dissipate some of my energy into negative thoughts or unproductive activities.

I have cleaned this up a bit recently, but you inspired me to raise my game up a whole nother level.

I had a very intense hour cardio workout tonight and tomorow I will post a better clean and bench workout than my last one...more volume and intensity and probably some extra exercises.

Thanks, streamline. Doc

Doc, I’m glad I was able to add some kindling to your fire. Giv’er hell Doc.

I just realized I just started my “comeback” on a comeback. Here is my second real workout this year.

Bench
10x135 x2
5x185
5x225
2x245
2x255
2x265

Power cleans
5x135 x2
3x185
3x225
(right here, my ipod, which is actually an iphone, rings…its the ex, wants me to help her with Nicaraguan bandits at “her” Costa Rican house…I kid you not. Call the cops, woman).

0x245 (hit myself in the neck with the bar, nearly passed out)
1x245, missed second rep, way out front
0x265
0x265
0x275
Fuck it. My form was off: I had my head up my ass. I was so pissed, there was plenty of pull height, but bar was flying all over the place and so was I, totally off balance. At least finished with 3x225 again.

Squats (back squats)
5x135x2
5x185
5x225
3x255
2x275

Had to call it a day right there…squats were killing me, had that pinched nerve thing going in my left rhomboid area, back hurt on last set when I lost form and bent over way too much.

Hey, it was ugly today, what can I say. I want to lift hard, but I’m so deconditioned that both my ability to do volume and my technique sucks right now. But a bad day doing these three lifts is far better than a good day doing pussy machines and cardio.
Doc

Let’s not ease into this. Pick three Big lifts and hit them all. You’re gonna hurt but bet you feel good. Way to get back into it.

Yep, I’ll bet it hurt.

DOMS, then you know you’re back in the game. Way to power out the numbers Doc. Hope you’re not to sore, well no not really. Welcome back to the game!

Doc, do you use spin bars? LOL. Could help if your current training facility doesnt have any available.

Streamline says it best. I echo his comment.

Hey, guys, this was kinda funny…everyone waiting to see how fucked up my body is this morning after that workout.
I slept REAL well, and when I woke up, nothing hurt. However, that all changed when I tried to get out of bed. Yeah, I’m very stiff and sore, but no pulled muscles or bad pains, just a malignant case of DOMS. They have a heated jacuzzi next to the pool here, and going back and forth between the two works real well for me with this. If you guys remember, when I first started this comeback last year, I had bad DOMS for like three months straight, it finally let up right when I was hitting my stride in November getting to some big numbers. This type of pain I welcome, as you guys all know, its how you really know youve pushed your body hard and you will definitely GET RESULTS.
Stretching helps me but not as much as the hydrotherapy and a good massage. What the hell is a spin bar??? Doc

A competition Oly Bar. The sleeves have a smooth rotation. Perhaps its the geographical difference hence a slightly different slang for things.

OMG, I’m showing how long its been since I had the priviledge of using one. Like thirty years. Yeah, I would love to have one…come to think of it, that’s no doubt part of why I can’t rack the bar like I used to.

I’ve had serious racking problems since the day I started this comeback, and I have been wracking my brain trying to figure out if it is due to poor flexibility, poor technique, deconditioned fast twitch muscle fibers, and a few other theories I had all pointing to some deficit in me.

Funny how you forget things…when I was missing those cleans the other day…I still tried to do what I used to do before every lift in the past, spin the bar around a bit right before I set my final grip.

Of course, not only do typical gym bars not spin well (if at all), if you do get them to move you can see the warps in the bar. This just annoys me every time but I quickly forget it.

I remember the Eleiko I used in college...oh how sweet. Usually if I pulled it high enough I cleaned it...end of story. Thanks taski...that helps me realize it's not ALL me.

Doc

Here’s a question for you Doc. I was in an accident on Sunday. Now I was wondering, would it be possible to get hypnotized and remember the entire accident.

I’m not sure if the brain just erases those bad memories. It may be along the same lines as not having a memory for pain. Which is a very good thing.

I was just wondering Doc!

Interesting. The only thing I have to compare it to is severly sexually abused girls who have no recall of their trauma. Their brains clicked the “auto-protect” switch and no conscious awareness occurred during the trauma. Interestingly, on SOME occassions, these memories can be “recovered.” But if you got knocked unconscious, no way.
Doc

If you got knocked unconcious, its memory never stored. If you, like some sexually and physically traumatized kids, used our brains “auto-shut down” mechanism to block out painful memories, it is theoretically retrievable with hypnosis. Doc

If you were briefly knocked out, the memory was never stored. If, however, you "dissociated," the brain's way of auto-protection under very stressful situations (like sexually abused kids), the memories are sometimes retrievable with hypnosis. Doc

That’s called GKTFO.

Getting Knocked The F**k Out. Interrupts the shuttling of short term memory into long term memory storage, so people who get knocked out usually don’t remember the event. They wake up wondering why they are on the ground with all these people standing over them.

My first wife was an EMT and first responder on a lot of these kinds of things.

BTW, have you looked at L-Carnitine
