Stopping by to let you know I recently read your thread start to finish.
I was sad to hear about your real estate disaster. But I’m glad you have the earning power to get yourself out it. I live in Southern CA which has had a pretty big real estate bubble burst as well. A couple years ago I warned people not to buy, but no one believed me. Now I’m telling people not to sell (as long as they can afford mortgage payments), and still no one believes me. banging head
As far as the weenies in the gym, don’t try to show them up. You might injure yourself, but it won’t even register to them that you’re doing full reps and they did only half reps. They will only notice the number of plates. If full reps were meaningful to them, they’d be doing them, right?
Hi Doc - 49 year old ex-powerlifter here - Back is jacked - shoulders are jacked - wife complaining that I was going to kill myself - sound familiar?
I just layed off lifting all together for about 1 year - I went from 320 lbs to 250 - Lots of aerobics - eating like a bird - i couldn’t stand getting so small - returned to the gym about 3 weeks ago - trying to eat clean and keep a trim waist (went form 46 to 38) so far so good - back up to 275 and still wearing the 38s - but i hear the big steel weights calling my name . . .
Hi Dr. PC. This is a great thread and it’s very motivational for me, a 51 yr. old. I started back lifting again in Oct. 2006 and haven’t looked back. Now I only wonder why I gave it up when I started a family.
I was a competitive bodybuilder in the 80s and a high school Olympic Lifter wanting to go to the Olympics in the 70s. Your comment about Carter and the boycott brought back a lot of memories.
I need to go read some more of your thread. Keep up the hard work.
I am more myth than reality lately as the drama in my life exceeds what I could tell you and have anyone believe.
I have further concerns about my identity, as in I may have been discovered by someone who could leak any sensitive information about my job situation which is coming to a head.
I may have to disappear from the site. Dont worry, I’ve done nothing wrong. I am simply facing another HUGE decision and cant share it with you guys like I have so many others. This is a shame, because I always appreciate all the feedback I get.
I can tell you that I will be back in Costa Rica soon, for a while, and will be able to train hard for a while and undo some of the damage my recent deconditioning has done. I can’t wait for that part, as always that will be my therapy for the ongoing life challenges I face.
I’ll post some workouts when I get there and for at least a while it will be like the good old days of last year. I really need to recharge the body and mind, for what I am probably facing is worse than what I ever expected.
Sorry to be vague, but the alternative was ending the thread, and I just cant bring myself to do that, it has meant so much to me. I hope once I get through the maze I face over the next few months, I can resume the thread which was both fun, mutually inspiring, and never at a lack for crazy thoughts! Doc
I refuse to let this log die. I know you fucking read this thread. I’m the kind that may show up at your door step whereever that may be. The best to you and your family, let us know how you are doing. Keep training, there are enough old farts mushy in the world. I think of you often, no not that way. You don’t need another wacko. Let the group know how you’re doing.
Hey there, just in case you still drop in for a quick look just thought I drop you a line to let you know you’re not forgotten. Everyone’s lifting hard and some are getting ready for variuos competitions. Hope all is well with you and maybe we’ll hear from you again someday. All the best.
Hey Doc, here with my Saturday evening update in case you’re sneakin’ a peak. All the regulars are hitting it hard and getting ready for the summer. Lots of competitions line up. Lot of new people on the site doing some interesting and different stuff. Hope all is going well with you.

Doc, it’s OK yo be crazy. No medication required. I enjoyed your posts on HT’s thread, my normal home. I’m 76" also and it’s long longways down on our squats. You’re a pusher and I’m a puller. I’m packing more fat than you but could care less. More to love!!!Good luck with your training.[/quote]
