Am I Big?

Similar to what Brian W. just posted

I think it was Boyer Coe(?) who said something like…

I don’t lift weights to compare myself to others. I lift to see how good I can do. Even if there weren’t competition, I’d lift just as hard, just as often. I lift to be the best I can be."

And please don’t re-measure and post in 6 weeks. How about 1 year from now–maybe.

and i am 5’ 11"

All right, all right 6string…my bad. I thought you did the chin up post. I take that part back. Once again, my bad.

Then you’re just about exactlly the size I was when I was 15. Whether that makes you ‘big’ or not I couldn’t say. You’re not ‘small’ I guess…

Why are you asking this?

That tall and 160lbs and 12.5" arms? You’re a walking stick.

If you have to ask, then you’re not.

Oh hey, I was mistaken on the chins thing then too, sorry man.

Anyway, there is some good advice in here amongst the ribbing. Don’t worry too much about the comparisons – just start working on improving yourself. Set goals and work towards them.

I can only wish that I’d had access to a site like T-Nation when I was still growing up. I’m very certain my life would have been different in a few respects…

I’d probably have gotten a lot more tail and focused on career at lot less!

You have some starting measurments… now go lift some weights and eat clean and come back in a few months and tell us how they have changed

Here is something that sticks with me to this day…

In one of my Organic Chem labs from college, I often compared my yield to that of my peers because I thought it would be a good gauge of my experiment success and my skills in the lab. One day there was a simple note in my lab book. It read, “Don’t compare you results to the results of others. You are reporting on your findings not the findings of your peers.”

As simple as it sounds. There was a unmistakable truth to it. To this day, I live by those words.

Great post.

More evidence that milk is good for bulking.

You are prety big. I’ll bet when you were born you were around 8 lbs. So 160 is like 20 times bigger. What have you been eating?

Holy shit. Where’s Ripley’s Believe It Or Not when you need them?[/quote]

Cut some slack here. From private correspondence it appears 6stringsuperman would like to make the football squad. That’s a pretty good reason for wanting to get bigger even at his age.

Not just private–he’s stated it in the forum.
At the same time as he asked about the best way to lose weight and how to make his forearms really really huge.
(the answer is “squat” btw).

Heres the deal man, no matter how big you are at any age someone is always bigger at a younger age. All that should matter to you if your looking to make improvement is not how big you are but how bigger you are than a week ago, a month ago or a year ago.

Take it from me, ive read T-mag for about three years and have made all kinds of stupid posts but in the meantime went from 6’ 130 lbs to 6’1" 200 lbs throughout highschool. Eat alot and keep measuring.

Excellent post.
