Hey all, this may be a loong intro so please be patient : )
As many of you know, I have been privy to Altitude training since first working with the 1996 US Olympic Sculling Team (Igor Grinko, head coach).
We spent 10 weeks at what was known then as HASTC (High Altitude Sports Training Center) @Northern Arizona Uni in Flagstaff. We did explosive work and two a days down at 1000ft elevation in Pleasant Valley reservior, and our “endurance/ recovery” work at lake mary at 7000ft outside of Flagstaff.
I have worked with Boston Marathon Champion Meb Keflezighi as his training assistant from 2008 until now. Living at 8000ft has done wonders for his training and running using the train low/ sleep high method.
Ok, now to the question at hand.
I have the opportunity this summer because of school to live at 4000ft monday morning until wed eve when I travel back to 9000 feet, being there from wed eve until monday morn.
Do I do my explosive upper body monday and explosive squat on wed nite before leaving lower elevation, or do I do HEAVY upper on monday and heavy lower on wed before going back to elevation ? or split it so I explode one day and heavy the other.
Which is going to give me the best Bang payback for this opportunity ?
I will also have my prowler with me as i will be living out of the GreatWhiteVan … down by the river : 0
