Alternative to Barefoot?

Who the fuck cares what other people think at your gym dude? Is it that kind of gym?

I tell people since the market is slow I’m an unemployed ninja & these are the shoes I wear.

Seriously, besides the people that stop to ask me about the kicks no one really bothers you… once you explain to them the logic behind the shoe they usually BS & say something along the lines of “Cool, I have to get me a pair of those”.

When your working hard and putting in your time no person worth respecting will give you crap. I’ve actually gotten the opposite of crap, most people come up and ask about them when I’m throwing up heavy deadlifts, as they help with development of the smaller (and equally as important)muscles, thus promoting overall strength and development.

Who cares what the gel heads on the bench press think? Real workers will know why your wearing 'em, and the woman will love you for not caring what other people think.

I was talking about gym policies, I train at my city’s rec center and we have to wear laced shoes. I’m not too worried about what people think, right now I’m happy my bright red wrestling shoes. Lol so far every single time I’ve done front squats someone came up to me and asked why I do them and why I go so deep.

I have an old pair of slip on (no laces) sketcher style shoe I wear. Very easy to just slip on and off in the gym for sets of squats and deads.

I wear thin sole shoes but then take them off for each set of deadlifts and squats. I squat in a power rack so the bar can never land on my feet due to the safeties and for deadlifts you’re standing in the middle of the bar so the weights are still a good 50cm from your feet.
Just slip shoes on between sets if you need to walk around.

i have to agree with holy mac here…this level of minutia really doesn’t matter for most of the guys here…i wear plain old cross trainers…deadlifted 530 in them…not a big deal…kind of like asking if your starting knee bend on the deadlift should be 45 degrees or 47 degrees for maximal glute recruitment…it just doesn’t matter that much…maybe i should rethink my 150 grams of protein a day and shoot for 154 grams…

Terra Plana has a line called Vivo Barefoot; ultra thin soles. I picked up a pair of Aquas from them a few weeks ago and have been wearing them every day. Squats and calf raises feel a lot different and I’ve gotten a new soreness from each (my feet are even sore). They’re on sale right now for $75 (but you have to call their store in NYC). For anyone who gives a shit.
