almost all authors state that you can tweak routines to suit

And Dante is not one of those.
And most “authors” are not the bottomless pit of wisdom (at least not in this site) they make themselves look like.

i dont always train dc…but when i do, i like to do it as written.

Usually my response forw these types of questions is as follows
How do you feel about people bastardising DC principles and still calling it DC?
*****Simply i would like them to look at this basic fact. I did all the legwork before you, all the fine tuning, what worked and what overtrained people, what worked and didnt work that well. Who do you think has gotten all these 1000’s of emails over the last 8 years so i could turn it into an enormous feedback factory and fine tune things as it was neccesary? Me. So why in your mind in a million years do you think you could make something better before even starting it, when I have all the failure and success experience behind me? The reason you even want to do DC training is because you heard about it somewhere. Why did you hear about it? Because it works well. Then why the hell are you trying to change it if it works so well before you have even started it?
Are you the one who did the Nate Green interview a few years back? If so, great article and reference guide to get started You basically took 3 days worth of reading and condensed it into 2 pages.

seems pretty true when you put it like that?!

you’ll be glad to hear I’ve changed back to the traditional split now?

what do u guys think of training back to back days with DC?

I don’t mean all the time just occasionally when its out of your hands due to family/work commitments, shouldn’t happen often but just from time to time.

Yes that was me, glad it helped some people out. It didn’t come out perfectly but our conversation helped him iron out a few key points he wasn’t getting.

I don’t see that as a problem… OCCASIONALLY.

When I was doing DC a couple of years ago, I was usually too wiped out the day after training to even think about doing it the day after.

Agreed. Now in a case like I’m about to suggest I could see someone training back to back early in a blast

Friday through Sunday travel due to work or vacation

Monday-chest shoulders triceps back width/thickness (A)
Tuesday- cardio or off
Wednesday- biceps forearms legs(B)
Thursday A
Friday off
Weekend off

If you just have an obligation just Friday I’d rather move the workout back to Saturday than forward to Thursday. My personal opinion though.

If you are well into your blast, TAKE THE DAY OFF. It will benefit you far more to have 3-4 days off than to squeeze in an extra workout.

So while I hate giving people excuses to change things, sometimes, in some situations temporary compromises can be made.

I’d also look at what exercises you have to do. If that Wednesday workout has stiff leg deads and the ahead of schedule Thursday is rack deads …forget that. Take the day off, or switch to maybe HS low row that day. Or take the day off.

Lastly, dont be afraid to take the day off.

Thanks again for the article I have read it probably 20-30 times. Also thanks for dropping in here to offer advice.

DC has always intrigued me, but as it has been said many times the legwork has been done for you, so do it as written. Until I can truly commit to it in all phases (training, diet, stretching, cardio) I won’t embark on it.
