Allergies Are Killing Me

I just moved to Texas about a year ago and my allergies are killing me!! Im constantly dizzy, and I take claritin once or twice a day. Does any have any ideas for home remedies or over the counter medication? I used to take a steroid nasal spray and I eat natural honey but I want something more immediate.

Stinging nettle tea is very good for respiratory problems. Probiotic foods like kefir keep your immune response in check and might in fact reduce allergy symptoms. I also find drinking a helluva lot of water helps during allergy season works like a natural antihistamine.

Good luck; I know how annoying allergies can be, but don’t go too hard with the over-the-counter or prescription antihistimanes if you can hold out a bit.

Both Allegra and Zyrtec are over the counter and both work well for me.

I know my allergies to cut grass & pollen decreased significantly when I stopped eating most grains (wheat & corn) & dairy. It’s quackery but you have to try it for a few weeks to notice the difference.

I actually started a bitch about pollen thread in the GAL. This is a mainstay for me, no wheat or dairy during allergy season and a fast once every 2 weeks. There is a really good book called Clean id recomend.

In years past i used to be on presciption eye drops, 2 inhailers and a nose spray plus a daily dosing of antihistamines. I still fucking hate pollen, but the above helps me live a semi normal life during allergy season now and I take zero meds.

x2 on eliminating grains and dairy.

I was a long time allergy sufferer until removed those foods.

It might be BS, but the local wisdom is that you can pick up some of that local raw honey (lots of it here in TX) and eating that is supposed to help.

Make sure it’s local to you and get the kind that looks like a jar of paste. Not the clear amber kind. That stuff sometimes says “naturally raw” but that is misleading. It has been cooked for shelf appearance. That’s like selling a medium steak fresh off of the grill as “naturally raw”.

I agree with the gluten and dairy part big time, but I also use a sinus rinse (or neti pot) for some immediate help, I mix in some 4way now and than if it’s really bad. Also, local honey helps, but I’ve heard of using local bee pollen as well. It’s like little pieces of sand, I personally couldn’t handle it in any amount, but some people I’ve talked to slowly took more and more a day and their allergies improved. (I knew I was using too much at first because I woke up with a sore throat the next day every time I did it)

Thanks, I think I will try to cut out grains. Any specific ones?
