Allergy Relief Help?

i am suffering from seasonal allergies, maybe a sinus infection. What remedies have you used to help? Currently taking Zertec but only seems to make my gums stick to my lips. Not doing shit… I am so damn congested I can’t stop blowing my nose. Have heard there is some kind of vaporizer/ inhaler thing that is supposed to help, anyone try it?

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

You’re welcome.

Don’t ever use table salt. Stick with sea salt. (I had a friend who tried table salt once, and he said it was a very unpleasant experience.)

i would stay away from zertec i use to take and everyone else i knew who took had serious drowsiness even the next morning if you took it at night

They do sell a specail neti salt solution that I think has baking soda. And they have a special zinc solution that works well too, but I found wasn’t necessary and was pricey.

Neti on Bro !

How about for itchy eyes and sneezing though? Solves all that?

I’ve been thinking about trying it, but being at school I’m in and out all day.

Do you have to keep doing it every time you go inside?

Damn cherry blossoms are killing me

you do it once in the morning and once at night…i actually only do it once per day when things aren’t bad…think of it like brushing your teeth…

i haven’t had problems with eyes and sneezing…my eyes never really got bad before…but…in the couple of years I’ve been doing it, i haven’t got a sinus infection or been stuffy.

If the neti dosent sound practical to you just grab some saline nasal spray. It works also. If your like me and are stacking benadryl with sudafed just to be able to feel normal it helps to keep your sinuses from drying out too much with the meds, which eventually leads to infections and headaches. Shower or just wash your face before you go to sleep. For the eyes my eyedrop of choice is the old ocuhist, now sold as Visene A. Here is a pic of my desk stash.

Next year, 2 weeks before your allergy season starts, begin dosing with NasalCrom®. This is a nasal spray that contains the antihistamine. It works extremely well with little or no side effects (at least not in my case, and I suffer terribly from allergies in spring). It’s not intended to be used to clear the nasal passages, it’s purpose is to dispense the symptom-reduction medication through the nose instead of orally like other meds. It stops the itchy eyes and throat as well.

I just have to say that Shugart is great at making stuff work. Man, I just thought to myself buddy “IS this how I want to be?” cause i was all fat. But a new revelation came to me, A brand new day, you know? That though was to take my body, my soul, this FAT away and to create a new body. This way women look at yours truly and my fine ASS. nothing is better than the velocity diet if you ever want my honest opinion LOL

That’s the best allergy relief post ever. Just reading it has diminished my watery eyes and runny nose.
I will take your advice! Thanks.

You can also try Sinus Rinse, which can be found at most drug stores. Basically an irrigation system that cleans out your nasal cavity and sinuses. I use it when my allergies flare up and it definitely helps me breathe easier.

Try Nasonex (nasal spray, its a prescription medication though. I have tried it all before (zyrtec, claritin, etc.), none worked as well as Nasonex. You need to be patient though once you take it. It takes about a week for your body to get used to it before it starts working. Few tips to minimize your allergy symptoms:
-Stay in centrally air conditioned areas as much as you can.

-When you drive, keep the windows closed and use air conditioning.
-Wash your hair every night before you go to bed.
-Get your heart rate up as much as you can (helps to relieve congestion)

Good Luck

Finally went to an allergist after years of suffering. She said to stay away from any off the shelf nasal sprays as they are addictive. The Nasonex prescription one is far better. Also said that the best way is to treat the actual symptoms. If it’s your nose then a spray, if your eyes are itching then get something for it. Better than just the reactine or other pills. I use the Nasonex spray and Patanol drops for the eyes this will get me through most of the year and when the season gets worse the odd Reactine.
