all receivers/football people help PLEASE

Im a freshman in college and since I only played senior year of high school I can’t play football in college. However I do play intramural with flags. I need some drills so i can make cleaner cuts especially on the wet turf. Any db advice would be appreciated also. I figure that one legged squats should help except that Im too damn weak to do them. ANY advice would help I really would appreciate it. Thanks a lot.

If you have the $35 bucks go over to renegadetraining and get Davie’s book on football training. It’s got stretching, agility drills, strength training, conditioning… pretty much everything you need to improve athletically.

I played HS and college football and still play rugby on the county team. I have found that plyometric training is more helpfull to my game than weightlifting. Don’t get me wrong…I do a powerlifting program religously but pure power isn’t worth a damn if you cant translate it into action on the field. There are some great books on plyometrics out there…Dr. Chu has written “Jumping into Plyometrics” and several others. Give that a shot and you should see some dramatic improvement. Also, try rugby if your school offers it.

Coach Davies book is great.

Keep in mind, there are numerous agility drills that are used to enhance your ability to change direction. It is a good idea to use various patterns when training agility due to the never ending changes of direction involved when playing football.

The following can all be helpful. Jump rope, agility ladders, cones, bags. Also try backpedaling , shuffles, carioca etc…

thankYou
Coach Hale

All of the topics that Coach Hale noted, are covered within my recent book. If you have any questions feel free to ask and I will be honored to help. In faith, Coach Davies

Lots of squats and lunges. Do interval sprints and lots of agility work. There’s lots of resources out there for this type of training. In HS, we use to do “dot drills,” which really helped my foot speed. Basically 4 dots outlining a rubber mat in the corners with one more dot in the middle. There’s tons of combo. foot drills you can do on this. For ex: both feet at a time, hop on each corner dot clockwise as fast as possible. Fries your calves too.
