Alcohol and Training?

Alcohol and Tylenol causes the accumulation of a toxic little molecule called NAPQI which fucks up your liver very effectively. A very painful way to kill yourself. Advil or more alcohol are both better choices than Tylenol.

I perform better after getting drunk on wine than after beer or liquor. Don’t know if it’s the resveratrol or whatever.

Yeah wine is better for me, too. Beer has a huge effect on my strength but I can have a bottle of wine a night and still train hard. Actually I credit a bottle a night with helping me gain some actual weight. Too expensive though so I had to cut back.

Red wine, btw. White wine is terribad.

I’m 20, and have never drank a drop of alcohol, not even a taste. I feel like whenever I do, I will probably not be able to train for a week, due to lack of anything that could be considered a ‘tolerance’.

Has anybody ever tried activated charcoal after drinking? It seems like it could be effective if taken after you are done drinking before passing out or whatever. Obviously you wouldn’t want to take it before drinking or right when you are starting because it would limit the effect you are trying to get from the alcohol. It is used in hospitals for drug overdoses and is technically harmless to the body. Could be an interesting experiment to try…

I agree here. But part of it is that I don’t think I’ve ever gotten good old-fashioned shitsnoggled off of wine.

20+ beers? Check. Shit goes down like water and it’s not too hard to overdo it with drinking games.

Bottle of whiskey? Check. It’s pretty easy for shit to get weird when heavy liquor consumption is involved.

Several bottles of wine? Meh not so much. It’s kind of in a weird zone where it’s not strong enough but not chuggable enough to consume to the point of serious hangover lol

People who drink heavily ~ 3x a week or more, they don’t get nearly as hungover.

Add a pre workout drink on top of it and hope no one is in the way when it’s time!

I guess this would be a good place for my buddies article.

Double Vodka+Jack3d is my new go to drink.

I swear we are always told not mix stimulants and deppresants

I dont like the taste Jack3d enough to mix it with vodka. In college i was trying to save money and still party hard so i would buy the cheapest vodka. $8 for a 1.75 and i could go though 1.5 of those a good weekend. Nasty

Haha the old college speedball… preworkout/energy drinks and booze.

Just make sure to never go for Jack3d+whiskey… after that an erection would be a Jesus miracle

What?

Fat is chiefly absorbed by the lymphatic system.

BBB[/quote]

Haha I’m glad you chimed in here BBB. That struck me as a very iffy statement but I didn’t have the biology credentials to call BS.

I have heard the same thing about saturated fats helping both as a preventative measure and as a cure for hangovers. Do you know anything about whether or not it’s true?

I’ve found that ZMA helps with a hangover, but I don’t drink regularly enough. I figure it’s probably b/c of the Mg.

Wasn’t there a president who would eat a full stick of butter before boozing?

Taft? haha

Whenever I drink to the point where I’m at least tipsy then I feel like my recovery for that day has been awful. I wake up in the morning VERY achy especially on the muscles I worked the day before.

I also get awful hangovers when I drink a lot that will definitely stop me from going to the gym the next day. I have no idea how anybody could go to the gym with a bad hangover.

Fat slows down digestion. The alcohol spends more time in the stomach, where some of it is broken down by alcohol dehydrogenase. Some of the alcohol gets absorbed by the food and never gets into the blood.

So basically food lowers the bioavailability of the ingested alcohol and you get as drunk and as hungover as you would if you had drunk less.

The secret is water consumption. You can drink alcohol 'till the cows come home but if you drink a glass of water between each drink and have a decent snack before bed, I would nearly garauntee that you won’t have much of a hangover the next day. Sure you’ll look like a phag drinking the water and more than likely put up with some abuse from your friends but you’ll feel fine the next day. Nights where I did not do this = vicious hangover, nights where I did = literally no hangover whatsoever.
I’d also recommend that you have the snack ready before hand, incase your too shit faced to make anything decent.
