Alcohol and Gym Performance

I’m a beer lover and I love craft/specialty brews. Typically, when I go out to drink (which isn’t often, maybe like 2x’s a month) I’ll allow myself only 2 pints. Which is all good for me since the stuff I drink is generally higher in alcohol content that your typical maintstream stuff like Coors, Bud, Corona, Heineken, etc.

As far as it affecting my training, no not at all. If I drink 3 pints or more then I can start to feel a decrease in performance.

Personally if I take a sip of alcool one night I lift like 50% less for like the two next workout. Seriously

all these guys who say drinking doesn’t affect there performance…
need to learn how to drink!

Depends on a lot of factors for me. If i get blasted drunk, stay up really late, hit the gym the previous night hard, and did big full body lifts like deadlifts, t bar rows, squats etc I wake up and feel weak as shit the next day. If i don’t stay out to late only have a couple drinks, and get some good sleep I still hit the gym and usually do well. I just got over a stomach virus so the very feeling off alcohol right now repulses me. I think its fun sometimes, but I could easily never drink a drop the rest of my life and be totally content.

IMO it’s highly individual - some people process alcohol much better than others, just like with everything else!

15 too many shots last night, today is a lost cause
