Wasnt it cool seeing Arnold over with the troops this past week…especially around the 4th!!! you have to like Arnold…one of the true patriots in Hollywood!
Of course…he is one of those misguided people who believe bodybuilding is a SPORT…but we can overlook that…right!!!
Visiting troops = publicity. For both the movie and his political career.
Great to see ol Arn encouraging our troops. Afterall he WAS one of the heros of a whole generation - which is now fighting in the front lines of todays conflicts. From Platoon and Predator to Terminator, and his other movies, he…inspired us when we were kids to want to kick ass the way he did. Sharon Stone inspired us to do something else, but Arnies trophy was to instill a desire in young kids to want to be like him. Many of those young kids are now fighting the front lines in our armed forces.
Everything a celebrity does is publicity. They publicize themselves if they’re caught naked on the beach, if they have sex in the car, if they go shopping with someone but their husband/wife…But Arnold not only publicized himself, he encouraged our troops and boosted morale. He deserves his share of credit for doing what others (read: dixie chix, pearl jam, 99% hollywood) neglected to do. All celebrities ‘were’ supportive of our troops, just against our govmt right? Well, where the heck is thei support for our soldiers now that many of them started to come home? I aint seen nothin yet. I suppose the almighty dollar hasnt extended an invitation to them as of yet.

Right on Diesel. Just one question: Arnold in Platoon? I don`t remember his mug at all. I sure remember Commando, though. But I get the idea. =0)
My wife has some pretty good stories about Arnold’s love for the camera. She was a Special Olympics coach for years and said that he’d step on an athlete to get to a camera. Kind of funny.

Funny thing is Arnold admits his a camera hound! But if he brings HIS spot light to the troops and lifts moral, I’m all for him! How awesome would it be to work out with him? Now thats a stroy you could tell your grand kids!
Photo op or not, Arnold embodies the macho, can-do image that our military portrays. It had to be nothing but inspiring for the troops.
Arnold is the King…pure and simple…

I have yet to see mainstream Hollyweird celebrities get close to him on that one (or in the same beef class category), specially at the population % level.
I just oredered Pumping Iron last week… He is definitely the man.
