oops, I meant to say charm, not “charp”! ![]()
clintpatty: are you just razzin me? Aston Martin station wagon? If your not joking, whats the model name? Thats funny, I just can’t see Aston Martin making a wagon, tee hee.
Recently here in Denver two 16 year old kids with “import racers” killed a pedestrian walking at night while they were racing down a busy street. One kid hit the ped. then the other and the person obviously was killed. Both kids fled the scene and are now in jail. Street racing is moronic and there is now excuse to do something so stupid. Although I like the cars and the driving in “The Fast and the Furious” I strongly disagree with its message: street racing is cool. It is because of the movie that so many lives are put in danger every day.
I am 19 and a “gear head.” I love all things Muscle: Bodybuilding and muscle cars. I am saving for a Vette, because I love speed and the thrill of acceleration. However, I know I can go to “test and tune” nights or free nights at the local track, or at least find deserted roads.
Yes, the “ricers” are annoying, and any racing is dangerous, but anyone with those kinds of cars should have the respect for their machines to use them safely.
I’m in a Ford Focus rental right now while my Trans Am’s in the shop. Funny thing is, it gets the same mileage in town as I do in my T/A. I also got 25 MPG driving across Montana in my Vette back when there was no speed limit. I rarely went under 100mph.
There’s a misconception that V8’s suck gas like crazy. They don’t if they’re powerful enough for the car. Hell, the new Corvette z06 with 405 horsepower gets 30mpg and is a low emissions vehicle. Ain’t technology grand?
I drive a “rice bruner” and it is kick ass! I will race anybody on here any day, and I will win! That is if my mom will let me. Civic’s rule!!!
Slum Lord, Ok I’ll run ya’ But I have a request. When showcasing your mAd SkILLZ in your “DopE” Civic, could you turn your neon ground effects on so I can see you in my rear view as you fade away? :)A civic 0 to 60 in 5 sec? Yeah, off a cliff…
… To answer a previous question, I race mostly at the track, but there has been an occasional “light to light” run now and then. You have to be super careful tho… Dont want to hurt anybody.
Actually, there was a speed limit, it was just not numerically enumerated. You may very well have gotten a ticket if you were radared. Which stretch did you travel on? I used to make the run from the Bitterroot Valley to Bozeman in about three hours. No breaks, no screwing around. Just hit it and go. I miss that.
Jack Dublin: Yes, thats true, since a corvette weighs as much as many 4 cylinder cars (3600lbs) the power to weight ratio is really good. A 300hp V8 in a 4600lb SUV is a different story, but I digress. Speaking of the coffee can exhaust and wings, there are tons of those around town. Not only that but they all put APC banners on their cars. APC makes those stupid alteeza taillights and things like fake plastic cross-drilled rotors. It just gets really bad when you don’t even put someones motorsports banner on your car, but a company that makes fake plastic parts… Then of course theres the painting of trim parts like the windsheild wipers and rearview mirrors. Black civic+red trim paint = an extra10hp at 7000rpm. LMAO
Killing people is cool eh? Here in Toronto one cool guy was raceing his Prelude with a BMW and had his car ripped in half, killing himself and two of his three firends with him in the car. An even cooler guy T-Boned another car on the passenger side sending the female passenger to hospital and killing her 7 month old unborn baby. Now that’s cool, I bet he’s the envy of all his friends.
The problem is not just the import racers , it’s all racers. I have seen plenty o guy’s 40 plus driving around in a new vette or a z28 or whatever ripping around town or the highway. Just last year some guy reliving his youth decided to go raceing around with his porsche. Yeah he beat the hell out of all the ricers , but he also flipped his car , killed himself and two girls waiting for a bus. I have a ricer and i love to put money in it for fun. It’s a hobby to me. But i don’t go around killing people either. So not all of us are bad. It depends on the person , not the age of the person.
I’m selling my 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX. It has less than 4,500 miles and is in excellent shape. It’s an awesome car (gotta love turbo and AWD)! I hate to sell it, but money is too tight to keep it. If you’re interested, e-mail me. This thing will beat most souped-up Hondas anyday.
Nate Dogg: I can’t beleive your selling it already!!! A really good place to sell subaru’s is i-club.com. Awesome site, and very informative. There is a non-vendor classifieds section. People are always looking for WRX’s that are a bit used since the 25k price for a new one is a bit high for some people.
I have 2 things worse than that. 1. Redneck kids with “lowriders” (aka - S10 4 cylinder pick-up trucks 2. 16 year olds with nicer vehicles than mine…
Vince, I know this doesn’t happen often, but the kid may have earned a better car than you. For instance, if a kid was to get RHCE and CCNA certification or develop websites starting at 14 or 15 and worked part time until he was sixteen, he could afford a sweet car and have plenty left over.
You guys are awakening really old memories.
Back in the pre-double nickel days (early '70’s), when I was in college in Montana, the daytime speed limit was “reasonable and prudent.” Generally, that was an after-the-fact determination – if you stayed on the road and didn’t hit anything, you must have driven reasonably and prudently. I could make it from Missoula to my hometown in northeastern Montana (545 miles doorstep to doorstep, going through towns, and driving on two lane roads) in 6 hours and 20 minutes driving a '64 Chevy Impala with a 327 bored out to 348. I didn’t get very many repeat passengers, though. ![]()
True…which means I’m jealous of teenagers that are more intelligent than I. Nothing new.
I NEED A BETTER JOB! ![]()
