Adjusting the WS4SB Routine?

I’m currently doing the WS4SB routine with a 4 day split and i was wondering if there was a way i can adjust it so i do both squats and deadlifts in the same week? i was thinking of doing heavy deadlifts on my explosive squat days and a lighter deadlift variation on my ME squat days. Can someone give me some advice on this?

Jake,

I personally think it is an overkill, especially if you are already doing good weight with your squat or/and deadlift.

I have been training on Joe DeFranco’s training principle for a while already and found the following useful:

Scenario 1:
LBME on Mon or Tues: Squat and box squat variations
LBDE on Thur or Fri: Jumps and/or speed deadlifts

Scenario 2:
LBME on Mon or Tues: Deadlift variations
LBDE on Thur or Fri: Jumps and/or speed Box squats with bands

My $0.02NZD worth, hope it is useful

Go check out some training logs at elite fts. You don’t see heavy deads and heavy squats on the same week very often. You can do Romanian deadlifts on squat day/week as an accessory. The westside template and WSFSB are set up for you to rotate between the two ME exercises from week to week or every cycle.

Here’s the link to the original template for ideas if you want to adjust WSFSB.

I should mention that I just started a Westside split two weeks ago and I am rotating dead/squat each week for ME lower. Last week was squats, this week deads, etc. I’m doing Romanians heavy and good mornings light (still learning) for my hamstring/lower back lifts on DE day.

I was doing Waterbury’s TBT previously and was squatting or deadlifting twice a week and at first I had the same concern as you. Now I’m ok with it. I am doing squats every week for DE lower day. This is what is recommended in the template and also my squat needs work comparatively.

You could do a split similar to this Westside For Skinny Viking Bastards - Bodybuilding.com Forums
then you would only be doing ME lower once a week.
