For any of the more educated out there:
I’m trying to incorporate the olympic lifts into a three day a week full body lifting plan. I will do some HIIT, GPP, and sport specific skill training on 2 of the remaining days of the week, leaving 2 days for 100% recovery. My problem is that I’m unsure if I should just do these lifts in place of another lift(example: cleans for deadlifts) or add them in some other way. Any tips, program advice, or entire programs would be most appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Using Staley’s idea of building on, I like using the O lifts as my warm up lifts. Cleans before deadlifts works great because you only need one or 2 heavier sets of deadlift warm ups after to get right to the work sets.
I also warm up with snatchs before squats. The carry-over isn’t quite as specific but it seems to work out anyway. If nothing else I find it gets me ready to drive off my feet.
