Adding Meals?

As stated by Berardi first follow the 7 habits then calculate your cals forom Massive Eating, then increase your calories by 250. As he says, if u directly jump to the total cals needed u will add fat.

For a newbie, who is eating only 2 meals a day, some 750 calories, does he directly follow the 7 habits and jump to 6 or 5 meals a day or he gradually adds 1 meal a day?

Help me out of this, espacially from someone who follows S2B and John Berardi.

Slowly incorporate an extra meal a day. Don’t try to do it overnight you won’t like it. They key is to slowly change a habit.

750 calories??? Holy crap get this person eating before they actually die. Seriously. Do not pass go, and do not collect $200.

Don’t jump right into 2500 cals and 6 meals, but definitly jump it up to 1500 cals right away.

I was going to say the same damn thing but didnt want to fight off 2-8
“Hard Gainers”

I’d say add 1 meal each week. Some will say that this is too slow, and overly cautious, but I suspect if you are eating 750 cals a day, you probably have some issues with getting fat. If you double your caloric intake, your body is going to store every last bit of fat it can (because you are essentially starving right now), you’ll add a bit of fat, get scared, and start starving again.

If you DON’T have issues with gaining a bit of fat, go ahead and bump up the calories to at least 1500 a day right away, and go from there. Just my take on it, feel free to disagree.

Probably not a good idea to tell someone who may be afraid of getting fat that if they eat more they will get fat.

The guy I’m refering to is a skinny fat type, as u all know someone with less muscle but a big fat tummy. This guy hardly exercises and is eating an estimate of around 750 cal for the past 1 and half years, yes believe me he is the sort of guy who skips breakfast and tries to eat like a bird, he even sometimes tries to skip dinner(believe it or not…but there r some amazing people in this world who call this dieting). Whatever he eats is mostly little but junk. Anyways when I met him I told him I’ll try my best to get him into shape. So that’s why I wanted to know that will adding 6 meals directly was a good step or not.

I have changed this current 2 meal diet to a clean meal which is a mixture of good fats with a carb and lean protein(as mentioned by Berardi). I think i’ll start with 1 meal on the first week and the remaining 3 over the next 2 weeks.

Thanks for the replies so far!

Hmmmm… I sense a closet eater here. If he’s really only been eating 750 cals a day for over a year and a half he would still have a big stomach (don’t say tummy unless you are 3 years old). Sure if it’s 750 cals of junk (which would be like three bites of a Big Mac and four fries) then he could still have some fat issues, but it’s likely that he would be crazy hungry all day on only 750 cals of junk. That would equate to only 83 grams of fat, total. So it’s obviously not that much junk food.

Bottom line- he’s lying to you about how much he really eats. Or… he just really really sucks at math. Both are possible.

Sorry I must have not used the word JUNK. What i mean to say is not Mcdonalds or Burger King stuff but small refined stuff like a few biscuits or some small sandwiches and lastly i forgot to tell u he drinks a lot of beverages like PEPSI or COKE, he drinks them with his 2 meals and other times of the day, i guess he drinks at least 4 to 5 cans.

Now the 750 calories don’t contain these drinks. Anyway I think its empty calories. Now 750 divided by 2 meals is like 375 cals in one meal, its only an estimate, somedays he might be eating around 500 cals in meal 1 and around 275 cal in meal 2.

What i think he is lying is he’s on this type of diet fot 1 and a half years, I guess he might be in for 8 to 12 months. And believe me this guy looks really weak.

5 cans of non-diet pop could easily add another 750 cals to his day. Really though I understand how hard it is to have a “pet” project like this. You want to do everything you can for the guy, but unless he is ready mentally- there isn’t much you can do for him. The fact he feels normal on 750 cals a day tells me he isn’t ready.

Thanks for the reply!..I’m hoping for the best.

Good way to gain weight? Chili and potatoes. Great way to gain. Yes, it may be on the higher side of the glycemic index, but you can bet on energy and bulking up!

Have fun, hit it hard.

Thanks for all your informative replies! Just helped the guy with the 3rd meal, plus educating him daily. His total calories must be …i guess a bit more than 1500. I’ll only calculate his total exact calories once he starts eating 6 meals regularly, then how much he needs from Massive Eating.

I have told him to enroll at a gym by the next 2 weeks, so I can start to make his blood movin with some light cardio, stretching and imbalance stuff. At this time it’s just all about healthy eating. So I’m glad that finally he is eating like a man.

Those two sentences do not belong together.

Very soon he will be eating like a man. Thanks for correcting me.
