I am considering doing this program, I am wondering if anyone has any experience with it, and how were your results. My bench is way behind and I think I’ve been doing too many singles and need to work on a lot more volume.
I’ve done some research and it seems people are saying 25-40 pounds in 7 weeks.

Got me back to 225 from 200 (didn’t gain anything past that) after my hand injury. Not much else positive to say about it though, wasn’t a big fan.
The later weeks were WAY too optimistic for me and doing the failure tests after heavy sets was stupid IMO.[/quote]
Thanks man. I’ve looked at the program some more and I think 5x5 should break my plateau.

That’s when you have to be smart enough and know your own body enough to be able to break away from the program and cut things out that come accross as excessive.
When I go into the gym i tend to go in with 2 different plans and the plan I follow is usually determined by how my body feels during the first few warm up sets. I.e. I may go into the gym with the idea of hitting a PR on bench but during the warm up it feels like my joints aren’t warming up or are too tight then I’ll back away and go for a higher rep count than normal…

My computer seems to be pissed off right now, and won’t let me open that link. Is this the MM2K program?

I’ve done the program a couple of times. I did it about 10 years ago when it was the Add 40lbs program, and was trying to regain strength. At the time I had a PR of 315 (not paused), but had let it drop to 285 after a year of laziness. I ended up finishing the program with a 335 touch and go.
I did the Add 50lbs program earlier this year, and had been training very consistently using a modified Westside approach for the past couple of years. I started the program with a 365 paused bench and finished it with a 375 paused bench. I think the numbers are way too optimistic for someone who has been consistently training with heavy weights in the 1-3 rep range, and is in the mid to high 300’s or over.
I think the real benefit would be if you were coming off a layoff, or if you had been training in the 6-12 rep range for a longer period of time.
However, it can’t hurt to try, and if you like to lift heavy weights, the program will certainly accomodate that.
i was gonna try the program but when i had a look at it, it seemed a bit excessive. But I do like the idea of of…if you get more than like 4 reps, increase the weight 5lbs. less decrease it. I think it COULD give a good 40 lbs on someone who has a bench in the mid 200’s.
IF YOU WANT TO GAIN ON YOUR BENCH!
For sure to gain a full 30lbs. on your bench in 6 weeks there is a program!
I’ve tried it and got the full benefit of 30lbs.
Program is called How to Coax 30lbs our of your bench.
I doubt it’ll work very well if your pressing 300+
But I was pressing 265 did the program, 6 weeks later I was pressing 295. I was 16 at the time, it worked wonderful I was so happy lol.
