Action Brings Good Fortune...

I actually got pointed at by 2 young guys from about 40 feet remarking about the 315 for deads… WTF? I am in a volume phase![/quote]

Oh blow me! That’s my 3 rep max!!!

Although it surprises the folks at my gym when the “little guy” can rip up 3 wheels.

damn!
I’M LOSING FOCUS!
2 logging errors 10x10 should read 10x5 on squats and deads…

and F’d up weight selection twice!
I did 10x5x315 and “should have” done 225(no wonder erectors are fried!)

Ok,
First decent ride with new wheels! Love the better bearings, makes even more of a difference on longer rides!
24.41 at 9.9 Humid, not real hot. Hilly though we bypassed some of the more interesting hills.
4+ bottles of water and still dehydrated.

Erectors loved the stretch, hated the last 12 or so miles.

SO and I are committing to across country ride in summer 2013… Always wanted to, ever since I heard it was possible. I never set a date, let alone had a date.

Seriously? How long will that take you? I did 50 miles on Saturday and have no interest in getting back in the saddle anytime soon.

Interesting about your gym. Weird that so many trainers appear to never work out and train others with such stupid techniques and bad form. I see it all the time and really have to bite my tongue.

Wow, very interested to hear about this. From where to where?, how many miles?

Hope you’ve got lots of money set aside for food. I did a short 3 day trip a few years ago where I did 70 miles a day and you have to eat constantly and I mean constantly.

You’ll need a nice comfortable saddle too.

Ahh, I came to the re-realization that my life isn’t my own, until the kids are grown.

I’ll do some long rides, centuries, and maybe weekend /week type.
But there’s no way I can leave the kid’s with their mom for a long time…
I can get all the other logistical things aligned by 2013, just not the parenting.

Bike is mostly outfitted for 100+ mile days though longest has been 50-60 so far. I love my saddle from the early 90’s, but it’s got some crash damage to the cover that’s opening up. Finding one that fits as well may be a challenge.

It’ll have to wait until my mid-50’s.

SNAP:
50 miles!
Excellent.

Is your bike designed/fitted to you for 50 miles?
Mine’s a 2007 Fuji Tourer, a low-end loaded touring bike. Functional, durable, comfortable but needs upgrades to components for efficiency sake.

I have a Paketa magnesium racing bike. It’s pretty high end and extremely light weight. The problem is that I don’t ride it often enough to get used to the posture. I’ve ridden it twice since last summer. First 30 miles. Then 50 last weekend. My crotch, traps, and back really take a beating.

Magnesium?
Wow, I’m sure behind the times!
Weight matters more with a lighter rider.

Here’s my rig.

15.95 miles
11.5 average
34.9 peak
Hilly, warm enough…

Volume sux!
So I guess it is what I need most…

If I wasn’t Pling I’d be using the hell out of HS machines and limiting my BB work to just the big three.

How’s the shoulder injury coming on?

Just remarked to my SO that my shoulders haven’t hurt in days!

Not even when I lift.

The 10x10 is working well by me, if I can get over the puny numbers. It’s the worst when a newb comes over gives me the “look” . Then proceeds to bang out 1 set leaving with a look of triumph.
