I have a supplement containing 200 mg of alpha lipoic acid and 500 mg of acetyl L-carnitine. Has anybody had any success using these compounds? Should such a combination best be taken with pre-workout shake or post-work, or both? What sort of dosage is recommended?

I’d really like to know other’s experiences (or lackthereof-) with this supplement, as well.
I have used ALCAR (Acetyl L-Carnitine), but haven’t tried it in conjunction with ALA, which I take r-ala with my PWO shake.
I would take 3-6g (Charles Poliquin recommendation) of ALCAR 30 min before my usual pre-workout supplements, whether it was Power Drive, BCAAs, etc…
My workouts were strong physically and neural, as well as focused.
I also noticed fat burners such as HRX actually started to stimulate me, whereas when I first started taking HRX, other then the warmth, I didn’t notice any stimulation.
I did the alc back in the muscle media day. I do believe it helped me peel off a couple of pounds but I would say that was about all I can remember about it.I have done the R-ala but it keeps me awake . It also helps you lose fat
i take 3-5 grams of alcar in the mornings in my grapefruit juice with my morning supplement dosages. the r-ala i take with high carb meals. i think the reason that they combine the two is because of the oxidative propeties of alcar so the r-ala counter acts it with the anti-oxidative properties. laters pk
