DUDE!
I wasn’t offended. The longer the reply, the more I can learn. As far as belts, I don’t think I’m lifting heavy enough yet to earn the right to wear one… EVER! Maybe if I move past a 3 wheel squat or deadlift I’ll whip it out… whilst wearing the purple leopard print speedo, of course.
A side thought. Lots of strength and mobibity experts spit venom over any exercise that flexes the spine under tension (I.e. Crunches). What’s your angle here?
personally if I was you Id go ahead and wear one on your last working sets of squats and deads. Like I said a person has to almost learn to use a belt to get any benefit out of even wearing it. Pleas no on the speedo ,please no. I’m finding the mental image very disturbing.
In regards to the experts. Ill be honest I’m a hack like most on here, I don’t have a degree in sports physiology ,kinesiology or in physical therapy. All I’m going on is my own experience and what knowledge I’ve picked up in my time. My point of view . The spine was only designed to have a very narrow range of motion. So doing anything that turns a segment of the actual spinal column into a fulcrum point in my mind is kinda risky. just for the record I’m not a fan of a actual crunch as a midsection movement.

I’m not an expert either but there is no designated amount of weight you need to be moving to qualify using a belt. I rarely use one squatting under 200 but use it for triples over. That’s just me though and speaks to the weight that is heavy to me. It’s not the amount of weight but the amount that is heavy and pushing it for you.
Bulldog, nice to see you pull out the briefs. I bet your hips are thanking you for it. Will we see video of you wearing them or did I miss one?
Regarding the lever, I love mine but still use my dual prong as well. I know everyone rolls their eyes and says it’s a simple screw driver adjustment. However, when I’m squatting or pulling straps up, my warm ups are straps down and the lever is too loose. I just use the old dual prong rather than readjusting it. It saves time.

i don’t know about a video. But I was thinking of posting a pic of the bruising I get from time to time . I don’t know how much my hips appreciate it . But my pulled groin is thanking me while its slowly clearing up.

Alright,Before anyone says anything. No I didn’t do the 5x5 like I said I was going to do. After thinking it over Ive decided just to steal a few concepts from Gillingham.
Aw shucks. I’m gutted. I was already looking forward to reading your posts/rants about how you were feeling 24-36 hours after your 5 sets of 5 days!
If it is going to make you feel better ill find something to squall about
just for the entertainment value.
Well common sense raised its ugly head on my decision to back off right now. Looking over the squat portion of the program I realize that I don’t think Ive got the overall general physical conditioning at this point to jump head first into
a program with that much work volume on squats. Hell on week 16 the work load would damn near would be 10,000 lbs . I’m just afraid ill burn my self out.My gut is just telling me to gradually work into that at this point.

No its not. Are biggest concern and the Doctors is my oldest is border line asthmatic. Luckily he hasn’t had a attack in six years. The Doctor wants to put him on a mild steroid to thicken the walls of his lungs. My son will have a fit because one of the side effects will be some-weight gain. With his wrestling season starting hes not going to be happy.

Power Dad is going to step aside and let Wonder Mom take this one.
Quick question, This is going by your avatar : which is better Kingdom come or Earth X ?
I hope your son feels better soon. I had it a few times as a kid and it sucks but, being a kid, recovery should be pretty quick.
I think you made a good choice regarding the volume program. It shows brains. It took me a couple of years to know when to step back from something that would be like running into a brick wall. The choice may be smart but it doesn’t always feel good though.

The real question is: “Does stepping back feel better than running into a brick wall?” ouroboro - seems like you could answer that?
