ABS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I officaly hate my abs…first of all they arnt perfectly symetrical and it pisses me off…any way to fix that would make my year by the way…and secondly i cant make them hurt. The other day i set out with the goal to make my abs hurt like hell the next day and i couldnt do it. They were under strain for litteral 30 minutes and the next day they just felt weak, but not sore. I did hella sittups and core bridges and the likes, some weighted and some not…didnt work and its pissing me off because i though it i got them stronger then they would align better…

gratefull for any advice…

Yeah, that’s definitely genetics screwing with you there. Some people have “aligned” abs, and some don’t.

Some advice for you first off is to learn proper punctuation and spelling. Granted this is the internet, so a lot of slang and some misspelling are allowed. But if you want serious responses and want your posts to be taken seriously, proper punctuation and grammar are key.

Now, onto your abs “problem”. The shape of your abs are largely determined by your genetics and the linea alba, tendinous incriptions, linea semilunaris, and other fascia surrounding the abdominals. Without training, those are going to be the sole factor in what your abdominals are shaped like. To an extent, I think that you can change the shape of your abdominals, just like with other muscle groups (such as biceps, with its insertion point, but you can still make it look full and peaked to an extent).

Without actually seeing how you are performing your abdominal exercises and seeing how “non-symmetrical” they are it’s hard to tell you how to try and get the best results for trying to correct it. You could be favoring one side when doing your exercises, causing an unbalanced hypertrophy of the muscles. Also, you only listed direct abdominal exercises. Doing deadlifts, squats, and pull ups will all help out your abdominals as well. Read through majority of the articles and posts written by all of the great writers for this website and they will all say to do those compound movements.

It is not a good idea using “pain” or “soreness” as a gauge of how effective your workouts are. Some soreness is expected after a hard workout, but sometime it can be an indicator of over training. You should be able to tell if you are hitting the muscles properly during the workout itself.

wow. give the guy a break

Just do heavy Russian Twist (hold a db while arms are extended in an 90? angle to the torso) on a roman chair for several sets (3-5) and low reps (6-10).
Enjoy the pain!

pain shouldn’t always be assosciated with gain.

although if you really wanna hurt (or grow them abs in), do Ian King’s Ab program and make sure you keep that intensity up!

His program is pretty good. Search for “Awesome Abs” or just browse the archives, you’ll find it eventually.

Also, if you really want your abs to hurt, ask the biggest toughest guy you know to use your stomach as a punching bag for a few minutes, that’ll make’em hurt.

If you want pain, lie down and have someone drop a Medicine Ball on your abs…
If you want to make your abs stronger/fix your alignment problem then follow the advice given to you in the last couple posts.
Good luck!

Quit bitching and be thankful you will never be pregnant! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Did you read past the grammar lesson? The guy got a way better response than he could had hoped for…
