Basically true. The leaner you are, the more defined your abs will look.

Genetics play a pretty large role in how your abs will end up looking. For example, when Arnold was in his best shape, he basically had no ab definition below his navel, and it’s not for lack of training.

Meanwhile, guys like Dexter Jackson has a full eight-pack with defined obliques, with minimal ab training.

What does the rest of your training program look like? How many days do you train? What exercises, sets, and reps do you use? That info’s more important than what we do.

That said, I generally don’t use or recommend more than a few sets of one or two ab exercises once or twice a week, and generally not until you’re closer to your target leanness.

I bet the ladies always say “Chris…you’re such a sweet guy”

not knocking you…I truly am amazed at your ability to give legitimate answers to some boneheaded posts lately =)

I liked the ab machine at my club…but I tore my vagina while trying to do the whole stack.

Seriously…squats.

LOL!! Eh, some guys were born with good looks, some got smarts, I got patience.

I figure there’s already enough regular members eager to tear newbs a new one, so I might as well toss in some useful info where I can.

If somebody can make it through the gauntlet and tolerate getting flamed, and still appreciate the advice they received, then maybe they’re worth keeping around.

Wow well i will have to say. I was ripped a new one but i did learn some good things so I thank those who helped, and to those who thought they were too good. Well… lets just leave it at that. I just asked a simple question. You didn’t have to respond if you dint want too.

I figured you were a troll…due to the recent popularity of the “shut up about your abs thread”…and the fact that it was your first post.

But I did throw in my advice…squats.

Good luck to you.

and tearing up your vagina… Hope all is well on the lip healing process :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I do cable crunches and usually superset them with bicycle exercises, Russian Twists or something like that. But I love cable crunches.

I hear planks are good, also.

These guys are right. Go to any powerlifting meet and all you’re going to see is wall to wall tummies you can grate cheese on.
