A Work in Progress

I meant to say, that I was going to change my schedule around to include yoga!

I did that pilates class a few weeks back, and it kicked my ass!

I challenge any body builder here to take on pilates! LOL!!

lol, my Birthday isn’t until August, but thank you! :P[/quote]

I could have sworn that you said it was Saturday. I guess I am reading too many logs to keep track:)

I love pilates. I took a reformer pilates class while I was on a cruise (my gym only has regular pilates), it kicked my ass. I was sore for days. I would love to buy a reformer for home.

Yoga is more about health and recovery for me then strength. My posture is better and my body feels great. When I skip it, I feel the difference. I started doing a few poses at night while watching tv.

My hubby came up with a brilliant idea…He knows that I was really wanting to compete in that strongman comp…but then a family trip came up…about a week before the comp, so I wasn’t going to do it…

He suggested that on our way back down from MI, we could stop in PA for a night, hang out for the day,and get up the next morning for my comp…
OR we can drive back here, and I’d turn around the next morning and leave by myself…hmm…if I went alone, I could get there early, and just chill OR I could just stay home by myself for a week, HAHA!.. But then I wouldn’t have anyone to cheer me on or take pictures :frowning:

OR, I can just say screw it and not do it at all…
But the thing is, is that there wasn’t even a womans division until I talked to the promoter guy and he made it possible…so a part of me feels like I SHOULD be there…hmmm

I need to make my mind up soon, cause I already put off a month of training thinking I wasn’t going to do this!! eek

Hit the gym this morning…ready for a nap now!

Happy Monday!!
Ok, I realize Monday’s are not usually happy, but to me it’s like starting over and continuing on with that thing they call PROGRESS!!

I went out last night and did some intervals, go ME!
There’s a hill that leads down to a marina, so I jogged UP it for a minute, then walked back down for two minutes, then back up etc…did that 4 times…
This week I’m up to 5 rounds…eek!

Then I made the mistake of pigging out on quesadillas from Apple bees…BIG MISTAKE…I hadn’t had any wheat(flour) in two weeks, and I think that was why I woke with the most horrible tummy ache :frowning: Lesson learned…granted quesadillas were probably not a smart thing to have to test the wheat theory, but they looked so goooood… I did have a grilled shrimp and baby spinach salad beforehand…

Soooo, I made a decision…I am NOT going to do the strongman comp at this time…it feels RUSHED. I am listening to what the sun, stars and moon are saying…I am NOT listening to my EGO self on this one, but my INNER self…I want too much at once, and I need to remain focused on the goal/tasks at hand…which is getting LEAN and RIPPED!:stuck_out_tongue:
Aside from that my SIL is driving up from South Carolina to hitch a ride the rest of the way to MI, and as much as I know she would love to stay over in PA, she has to get back in a timely manner…

In other news, I will NOT be weighing myself this week and will probably wait until the next…I am trying to break through this plateau, and I know I’ll be pretty bummed if I don’t see the number I want this Friday…I guess like everyone else, I too have issues with the stupid scale…my solution for now is to just STAY AWAY!!! I’ll still measure though…

In other OTHER news, I’m getting my third tattoo today!!

Hey Lady,

You are doing so awesome. keep your head about you and you will do just great. I wished I had some of your motivation that you have and I know it took you some time to achieve, so don’t let it go for one second. You are determined now, have tweak your eating plan several times and are on your way down. Nothing but good positive things.

A tatoo? What is your tatoo all about? Thought about one, but haven’t done it yet. If I do it, I want a celtic symbol on right shoulder. We’ll see how brave I get or my second childhood I enter.

Stay strong!

fitnesslady

Thanks Karen!!

I will keep my tattoo a secret, and share pics later! :stuck_out_tongue:

I will tell you that I have a Celtic motherhood knot on my right arm as well as a tribal butterfly…my new tatt will go on my left upper arm

Hey is that Max. Strength book you got by Eric Cressey? There was a guy at the gym that had the same book if that is the one. I got so excited about because you had. Goofy me. He probably figured, just let me do my routine and leave me alone. He is the only one in the gym that is willing to try something new and different. Sets him apart from the rest of us, which still hang on to the old routines and lifts.

fitnesslady

Your torture training is unbelievable. You are so amazing at the heavy lifts you do. I think the best I have done at RDL’s is 65#. I don’t know how your weight just hasn’t rolled off you, but you are doing so great, so don’t stop now. I mean these as compliments. I would never get thru half of what you do, but I would give it a good try.

Tried to do HIIT on Monday, but my asthma is bothering too much, so I will have to wait a bit longer to try again.

Have you bought a foam roller? I am thinking of getting one. I wanted to get one about a year ago when I first read about. Will have to find a good book also.

Hang in there. You are doing so great.

fitnesslady

Thanks Karen-
That’s what I love about lifting…you can always progress, and you never stop learning about new techniques and ways you can train…

The weight is slooowly coming down, but I’m also building muscle…recently I’ve been getting compliments, and the funny thing is, is that I’ve only lost 5lbs since NOV, but I’ve lost about 15inches!!

Sorry about your asthma…that sucks!! :frowning:

Nope, I don’t have a foam roller…For the longest time I thought those were just for PL’ers, and “serious,” people who train hard…but Im learning differently as of late.

20 min on bike…started at level 5 for 2 minutes and bumped it up a level every 2 minutes…

Tomorrow is supposed to be NICE! So I will be walking/biking…Saturday will be second leg day…Decided I’d hit the back on chest AND shoulder day…and have two leg days, instead of one back day and one leg day…did that make sense?

I’m still here, but sometimes don’t feel like posting…

Today’s Training kicked my BOO-TAY!!

Supposed to do 12, but I lost count after 6 or 7…
Level 16@90-95rpm for 30s/recover @ level 5 for 90s

I got to talking to this girl in between sets…I think we’ve both noticed each other but just did our own thing before…but today she struck up some chatter in between a set of my deads…she’s super nice…just pocket sized, but really STRONG! She’s the only girl that I’ve seen that benches or squats…She came up to me while I was on the bike and asked if I wanted to try the spinning bike…I’ll probably go to the class on Wednesday!

Workouts look great.

I love spinning. A great way to burn a ton of calories

Claire

You’re sumo DL routine looks intense and that’s awesome that you met a friend  In my gym I’ve only witnessed one other female touch a DL with a ten foot pole, and she talks exclusively to these MASSIVE body builder dudes who spot her lifts. I tried striking up a conversation once, but I think she realized my lack of a 32inch arm would be of no use to her.

Enjoyed the day with the family yesterday…we went and checked this cool museum and walked along the boardwalk…but not before we had lunch, and I had a crabcake and hush puppies…(totally INtentional) And then later, GASP an ice cream cone…

And weather/hubbys schedule permitting I WILL be doing 30min of extra cardio in the evenings…mostly in the form of just walking/biking…or I might try out a spinning class at the gym! It’s time to step it UP!

Lesson of the Day:

The results gained in the end are not as important as what is learned along the way!

Good news!
On my way out of the gym, I talked to this guy who I think is the owner, but I didn’t know that
I told him that I when I am ready, I would be interested in getting a job there. I asked who I would talk to about that, and he said it was HIM, haha…

He said that he would love to have me on board, and he has noticed my hard work around the gym! I explained that I wasn’t quite ready to jump in, but I felt that I had a lot of experience to share with those struggling to reach there goals…

I am creating this fantasy in my head, where they would give me my own little office space, and since I will be a “Lifestyle and Weight Management Consultant,” maybe they would send clients to me to discuss goals, etc…

I’m giving myself 6 more months and we’ll see where I’m at then.

Training:(high rep stuff, so nothing monumental)

Seriously! It is a workout in itself to load plates on leg day. I just wish my gym had a leg press machine so I can be lazy and just load with the touch of a pin! ;)-
