Oh NOES I’m behind in my OWN LOG! Work is abso banana nutz right now but I want to address this before I play catch up.
I ACTUALLY Started with Body for Life! S’true!
SO here is my thoughts… I think that the best thing you can do to help someone get into this is to TEACH THEM THE PRINCIPAL of Progression. How each workout will be just that lil bit better than the workout before wether its one more rep or five more pounds on the bar. Teach her to write her own workout, track it and Make that progression every.single.workout. I was taught this early and it is what got me hooked so fast.
As a beginner you can progress every single workout for A YEAR OR MORE! Srs. Doing that tiny bit better each time kept me coming back and feeling like a winner and SEEING my strength progress. Plus for any of us with addictive tendencies this FULLY APPEALs… and also those of us who may be just slightly competitive. There aren’t many who have NO competitive streak at all. In this case you are competing against yourself and the weights.
SO, the principal of progression and teaching her two track her own workouts and always always progress is my numero uno advice for beginner weight training. Whichever program! Like I said I DID BODY FOR LIFE! Lol and look at me now. It was enough to hook me in.[/quote]
That’s great practical advice !
Hell your understanding of basic progressive overload and STRENGTH increase is enough to make you a better trainer than most that I see (it’s a sad, sad state out there in CommercialgymLand).
Now just get your damn bench form right and PROGRESS ![]()
Merry Xmas K!

100 SIT UPS… and I did some other ab bullshit but didn’t write it down and don’t remember LOL.
Um this wraps up another cycle of 5 3 1 just took an entire week completely off gym and diet I AM A BIG FAT FATTY RIGHT NOW. Boo.
Cleaning it all up and starting next cycle 5 3 1 tonight with Bench Press.
CLEANING UP MY DIET. SRS.
Adding +10LBS to max for Dl
Adding +5LBS to max for OHP
leaving squat the same
leaving BP the same
Some good lifting there. I don’t know how you ladies can stomach these high rep deadlifts (7 reps is high reps as far as I’m concerned). My form goes to shit after a few.
Gotta clean up the diet too. I ate a lot of shit at my parents’ through sheer boredom.

Yay!
Some real good lifting this cycle mama! great job!
Nice! dress code will be inexpensive and easy. I hope da BOSS follows the same rules otherwise I might have to quit…
I heart DL rep prs! Congrats on yours.
Excellent lifting, Hallie! You got some damn strong legs, girl. The thought of lying leg curls make me want to cry!
Did I ever tell you that I was pressing my 20# DBs and crying at the thought of you pressing 35#s? Seriously strong, woman…good work. And YAY DL PR!! Keep at it!

Eee! Bad Hallowed!
Sit ups are bad for your spine. Too much flexion. Also, it teaches your abs to do something they’re not supposed to do. They shouldn’t be initiating motion so much as stabilizing you and protecting your spine.
Here’s an article on the subject:
Also, look up Stuart McGill. He’s done a lot of good research on this.
Food for thought!

I’ll second the boooo to sit ups. That’s a great link. Check this one out too Death To Fitness: Six Pack Abs! How to Get Them and Why They Are Terrible For You. Part 1.5. I like it better because it’s by STB and has bad language ![]()
Nice job on the deads. It’s a drag when grip slows you down. What kind of bars do they have at your gym? The first gym I trained at had shitty bars with very crappy knurling and a knurlier bar makes a big difference.
Hey chica…following you from the other forum…took me a little while lol
Good job on the sumos!
I just started doing them and mix them up with conventional deadlifts ![]()
Happy New Year!
