only fix i’ve heard (which perhaps isn’t saying a lot) is to NOT LET IT HAPPEN. like how with front squats you can get up quicker (until the weights get pretty heavy and you start losing the bar forwards) if you lean forwards a little to help with the ascent. i’m trying to fix this (i’m tempted to do it) by gritting my teeth and waiting it out until my quads start firing properly to push the weight up. not sure if there is something analogous for the back squat?

thanks for the replies to my inquiry guys. i’ve posted a video of it happening before. but it’s been something like a year ago. not ready to be “that girl” yet in my gym… but i’ll bring a camera in one of these days.
in the meantime i’ll just keep working on trying to get stronger in the hole. hopefully the defecit deadlifts are helping. they murder my legs and i’m pulling from RIGHT on top of my feet and getting deep.
oh and i’m not sure how i feel about rippetoe’s squat advice. lots of camps that think it’s bullshit. but who the hell knows!!?!

bb step ups: 105 x 16 steps, 16 steps, 16 steps
leg press: 225 x 12, 12
the pull at 285 came up way easier than i thought it would. that makes me mucho happy.
Don’t overhead squats help you with the hips coming up first? I will just about pitch forward on my face with those if I don’t keep my back arched and chest out.
yes miss spider… i’ve been adding in lots of broomstick overhead squats and need to put on my big girl panties and try it with some actual weight one of these days. maybe next week!

yah nikki those hang clean/push presses suck are HARD!!! especially when ya do them last.

yup. it’s posted in your goal thread. i took it from your post there that you thought i was just posting the murder goal but i had already posted my goals earlier in the thread and was just posting that in response to all the “not get injured” goals.
my short term goal is a half bodyweight (65 lb db snatch) by the end of january. and since i managed a single at 60 lbs on monday i’m pretty sure that goals in the bag. =+)
