A Strong Squat, Brutal Bench Press, Dauntless Deadlift, and Massive Military press are as easy as 5/3/1

I feel you on the fasted training. When I first started training fasted it felt great and I didn’t feel it affecting my work capacity in anyway, but after a couple of weeks it really took its toll on me and I had to switch to non-fasted training.

Oh? Today was my first time training fasted, on my DL day I broke the fast with my peri-workout nutrition (read gatorade lol). I’m hoping that I’ll get more accustomed to it.

5/3/1, 5 week, Day 4
Thursday 7/14/11

Bench press
somexsomex135
5x165
5x185
5x210

Reverse band BP
5x225
5x275
1x315
1x335
1x365 PR
0x385

CGBP
3x220
3x215
3x210
3x220
3x215
3x210

These felt off. Will probably drop the weight 10lbs, if not I may just do a different exercise.

Pendlay row
5x10x135

Trained fasted today, didn’t feel weak midway through the session.

NICE bench man, way to LWI like a boss!

I think I’ll do RB benching this week also, so we can be bros! What bands you using there, btw? I’m sure you’ve mentioned it but I’m a)too lazy to check, and b)have a horrible memory

Thanks man! Bros before hoes lololol. I use EFS’s avg bands.

PM session
Thursday 7/14/11

I lol’d some dude was wearing a belt the whole time…but backwards.

DB bench
6x60s
6x80s
2x6x100s

Happy to be repping the hundos. Just gotta get more accustomed to DBs and getting them in place.

Facepulls
12x4
12x6
5x12x8

These hit the upper back very nicely.

Pushdowns
10x8
10x10
10x12
5x15(stack)

Did these just to try 'em out.

Hammer curls
6x30s
6x40s
6x50s
6x60s
4x70s

These felt strong. The 60s felt much lighter than I remember. Plus my arms were lookin’ all secksi while doing these

EZ bar preachers
12xbar
12xbar+20
6xbar+40
8xbar+30
10xbar+20
12xbar+10
25xbar

Pumptastic.

Saw a dude in a collared T and khaki shorts (after work maybe?), wearing a belt, on the treadmill yesterday. This fucking gym…

I hear ya on getting the heavy DB’s in place. I feel like I’m going to break my arms and/or my face every time I use them

You’ve been killing it AquaMan.

Your curls came a long way too.

Have you never seen that guy before? he is so goofy. It’s not even like he does any strenuous exercises… some curls, maybe some lateral raises, maybe some bench pressing. Tall, goofy fuck, ololo.

Nice hammer curls.

Gahd I hope his collar wasn’t popped.

Thanks! I just want my nonexistent biceps to be not so nonexistent.

Not until today. TBH there were a lot of goofy fucks today lol. But I think it may have been the guy you were referring to. He was all over the place doing god knows how many exercises. I don’t even think he was sweating.

And fml, didn’t get my weekly bug fix at ze gregory :frowning: </3

5/3/1, 3 week, Day 1
Saturday 7/16/11

Deadlift
somexsomex135
3x225
3x250
3x285
8x320

I’d say grip went first, despite using a hook grip. Hook grip aggravated the thumb I cut this morning. Had a rep or two left in the tank. Might just give a mixed grip another shot.

Pull ups (band assisted, alternating grips)
10, 10, 10, 5, 5, 5, 10, 7, 6, 6, 10, 8, 8 = 100 reps in 13 sets

Used too much arms during the first few sets, but eventually fixed that.

T-bar row
5x2p, 3p, 4p
10x5p
DROP: 10x4p, 3p, 2p

Lower back seemed to die first. I may try using a belt next week.

Ab wheel
5x5

Dat DL. :3

I’d say try mixed grip until the thumb heals up, even though hook grip is so hawtz. You use chalk right?

wtf your DL is whey betta.

Hook grip be so hawt mehn. Of course I use chalk, in fact my thumb was covered in blood n chalk

5/3/1, 3 week, Day 2
Monday 7/18/11

Military press
somexsomex95
3x120
3x135
3x155
1x185

(3x150,145,140)x7 = 21 sets lol

Could’ve kept on going, but decided to move on. Took awhile to get warmed up and into the swing of things, I guess I’m just used to lifting in a garage at 90+ degrees.

Partial laterals
20x30s
20x40s
20x50s
20x60s
20x70s

These hurt so good.

Hammer curls
6x30s
6x40s
6x50s
6x60s

Didn’t move up to the 70s since the 60s felt heavy.

EZ bar preacher curls
12xbar
12,10,8,8,6xbar+20

These were nice and slow. My nonexistant bis died here.

5/3/1, 3 week, Day 3
Wednesday 7/20/11

Squat
somexsomex135
3x205
3x235
10x260 (PR of sorts, definitely had a few more in me)
3x235
3x205

Depth seems a bit suspect, but overall squatting felt MUCH better. Really focused on keeping the chest up.

RDL
3x135, 155, 185, 205, 225, 245, 275, 295
10x225, 205, 185, 185, 135

These started off slow since my left erector felt rather pumped.

Ab wheel
5x5

Nice squatting, your form looked really “tight”.

I like the view.

Haha thanks man.

You can look, but no touchy touchy.

5/3/1, 3 week, Day 4
Thursday 7/21/11

Bench press
somexsomex135
3x175
3x200
3x225
2x255

fml, 2x255 felt WEAK. Just didn’t have an pop off the chest. Was hoping to hit a nice PR, but I’ll have to wait. Monday’s OHPing may have affected today, but w/e still got put in work.

Reverse band BP
(3x300, 295, 290)x6 = 18 sets.

Despite my benching feeling awful, I’m happy that I got in some good work here.

Pendlay row
3x10x135

Putting in good work, or should I say FAB-ulous work? :3

[quote]xjusticex2013x wrote:

Well aren’t you the comedian lol

5/3/1, 1 week, Day 1
Friday 7/22/11

Deadlift
somexsomex135
5x225
5x265
3x300
1x335
1x365
1x415 +10 lbs PR

Had to be patient off the floor w/ 415, pretty glad I stuck with it.

Squats (high bar placement)
somex135
5x185
5x5x225

Not sure if I’ll keep these, but I do like 'em. May switch these with GMs.

Pull ups (band assisted, alternating grips)
12, 10, 10, 6, 7, 7, 10, 10, 6, 12, 10= 100 reps in 11 sets

T-bar rows
5x2p, 3p, 4p
12x5p +2 rep PR
10x4p, 3p, 2p

Ab wheel
5x5

Overall a good session.
