A Strong Squat, Brutal Bench Press, Dauntless Deadlift, and Massive Military press are as easy as 5/3/1

That definitely got me pumped for squat day tomorrow! Looking strong! [/quote]

Haha, well I’m glad my lifting could serve as motivation to someone

5/3/1, 1 Week, Day 2
Monday 5/30/11

Bench press
somexsomex135
5x185
3x205
11x230 PR (felt light as hell while unracking, vid)
1x275 PR +10lbs (didn’t feel, heavy reverse band pressing sure helped that, vid)

3x215
3x210
3x205
3x215
3x210
3x205

BB curls (narrowing the grip felt easier on the wrists and forearms)
barx12
10x65
6x95 (forearms hurt after this)

Good session. Pretty happy with the two PRs. Pressing 275, I noticed that my lockout seems to have improved a little, which could be attributed to the reverse band pressing. Although I did get stuck a few inches off my chest, so I’ll need to work on that. I’ll switch to regular pressing as assistance now for a few months.

Damn nice squatting and benching man. Making me feel weak on bench man. It’s on for squat haha. Lets see if lil old BB-style training me can keep up with your powerlifting self. lol.

DANG AC! Awesome benching…so jelly of ur bench prezz

Haha thanks man. I figure our squats are comparable, while your DL kicks mine DL’s ass, and I’ve got the slight edge with benching.

Says the guy who hit how many PRs today?

5/3/1, 1 Week, Day 3
Tuesda 5/31/11

Warmed up w/ a few cleans and band GMs

Deadlift
somexsomex135
5x250
3x285
1x315
1x345
1x385 PR +20lbs (finally got this one off the floor, lockout was iffy since my right hand lost grip, should’ve gotten a better grip to begin with but whatevs, vid)

3x265
3x260
3x255
3x265
3x260
3x255

Band leg curls
A lot

While warming up I was feeling really amped up and had a feeling I had a PR in me, so I decided to forgo repping out w/ 315 and go ahead and pull a few heavy singles. Glad I decided to do so, b/c 385 seemed to fly up. Last time I tried 385 I could barely budge it off the floor so I’m pretty stoked about that.

man i wish i knew what a PR felt like.

Good lookin deadlift man! One thing id watch is the initial jerk off the ground (solely for bicep safety). Great job though!

Yeah I realized I was kinda jerking it off the ground.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu he’s gonna catch me.

Great lift man.
Was that alternate or double overhand grip?

Lololololol.

Twas an aight lift done double overhand as per usual.

Nice pull dude BRB gonna get some training in.

Nice deadlift, looked super easy/smooth. Bet you can taste 400+ at this point!

Thanks! I can already taste 4 plates lol.

Right shoulder is bugging me a little. Did some lying external rotations and band pull aparts. Doing so helped a lot. I’ve been slacking with regards to staggering my pressing w/ band pull aparts and the like. Will be more diligent about that.

5/3/1, 1 Week, Day 4
Wednesday 6/1/11

Clean and jerk
a fewx135
1x185

Push press
somexsomex95
5x140
3x155
10x175 PR +4 reps (vid)

Military press
3x155
3x150
3x145 (cut MPing short, reps were too slow for my liking)

Incline press
3x195
3x190
3x185
3x195
3x190
3x185

BB shrugs
10x135
10x225
10x315
20x365 PR +3 reps

Band pull aparts (staggered w/ pressing)
Lots and lots

Decent session. Happy with the PR. MPing felt more difficult, I’ll lower the weight to 145,140,135 next time. In general when I go for PRs on the final 5/3/1 set I’ll have to lower the volume/intensity of the assistance, otherwise I just go for the minimum 5/3/1 reps and pound the assistance.

Wow, I’ve only ever push pressed 175 for a single. FML

I see it as me doing 10 singles w/ 175 in rapid succession.

Did some curls for the heck of it, and curling 50s irritated my right forearm. So come Friday’s back/bi session hopefully I’ll be able to work around it.
