A Strong Squat, Brutal Bench Press, Dauntless Deadlift, and Massive Military press are as easy as 5/3/1

That’s a shame. Sorry to hear about that. But you gotta do the best with what you’re given. No point making excuses, just like with lifting. Either put up or shut up.

Meh, this always happens. A few hours after completing the day’s training session, I always feel like I should’ve done more. I need to be putting in more work. More volume and more weight.

Indie rock = fail

Dude, I might be going to South by Southwest! I have no idea what it is lol, but a buddy and mine are wanting to go to the show at the Palladium Ballroom with Emmure, Chiodos, Acacia Strain, Asking Alexandria and a bunch of others. That would be awesome! Only a 5.5 or 6 hour drive, nothing compared to the 11 hour drive for the Arnold Expo haha

Lol. Nice! When would that be?

Well, we decided we’re not going literally 5 minutes after I posted this lol. But it’s this Saturday.

Cycle 2, Week 1, Day 4
Thursday 3/17/11

Push press (staggered w/ rolling of my new belt lol)
5x115
5x135
5x155
6x3x160

CGBP
5x135
5x155
5x185
5x205
3x225 (elbow felt a little weird, so didn’t push this set)

Pretty decent session. Push press work sets felt pretty good. Figured I’d do some CGBPing. Glad I decided to do so because it felt really smooth. I noticed that as I press the bar makes a ‘J’ looking path towards my face, which is probably caused by flaring my elbows and using my triceps too early. Which most likely means that my chest sucks and my tris are taking over. So I guess I really need to do some flat DB press to get my chest up to par.

That happens to me too when I do heavy CGBP-ing. Personally, I never thought of it as a real issue, but some DB work couldn’t hurt.

Nice job on the presses.

Thanks man. And yeah, some DB work shouldn’t hurt at all.

Thursday 3/17/11 Mini PM Session

Reverse band bench press (w/ one EFS pro average band)
somexsomex135
10x3x225
1x3x245
1x3x275

I figured, “what the hell, why not give 'em a whirl”. And me likey  Now I need to order another average band to make it a pair and really do me some reverse band bench pressing.

EDIT: I also felt that my technique was much better. I was able to press in more of a straight line and what not.

Well I’m happy someone had a good day with bands!
I can’t say the same :frowning:

That’s some awesome benching though, wowzers.

Just me, inducing more blushing =)

Why thanks you

Eh, don’t worry about the band benching. It’ll turn out for you well in no time. I think it turned out well for me because it was an unplanned surprise.

Do something off day
Friday 3/18/11

A few sets of mountain climbers, goblet squats, glute bridges, planks, and band pull aparts.

This is a good way to break the monotony of studying

Do something off day part 2
Friday 3/18/11

Shrugs
10x135
10x225
10x275
10x315
10x275
3x10x225

Needed another study break. Since I didn’t know half of what I was studying, I found my self shrugging a lot. So why not take a break and do some shrugs lol.

Heh if I did shrugs everytime I shrugged from HW, I’ll look like I was injecting synthol.

Haha, while I don’t want any body part of mine to look like its been injected with synthol, I wouldn’t mind sporting some ear scratching traps

Saturday 3/19/11

Some mountain climberz, goblet squatz, glute bridgez, plankz, and band pull apartz

The hips are definitely starting to feel much more agile, mobile, and hostile.

I don’t think huge traps are looked well upon in female BB. Hence why there’s no female Crab pose. I won’t mind some bigger traps, but then again I don’t mind not doing shrugs either.

That is a pretty good point haha. Either way, you’re still looking good and only getting better.

Cycle 2, Week 2, Day 1
Sunday 3/20/11

Deadlift
3x225
3x260
3x295
6x2x315

Deficit pulls (on top of two 35s)
2x1x315
2x2x295
2x3x275 (from here the pulls were done from just one 35)
2x4x245
2x5x225

Regular pulls felt great today. The doubles w/ 315 were pretty easy and felt smooth. The last three sets I was really able to drive from my heels. Decided to up the weight w/ the deficit pulls and glad I did so. They left me rather sweaty. The first two sets done from two 35s were hard, but I think it had more to do with the plates being wobbling hence my decision to just pull from one plate. I’ll have to find some other surface to pull from that’ll provide a stable and decent deficit. For the most part the whole session felt pretty fast pace. Tomorrow I’ll do some shrugs as a sort of continuation of today’s session.
