A Strong Squat, Brutal Bench Press, Dauntless Deadlift, and Massive Military press are as easy as 5/3/1

Benching, curls for girls… it was just your vanity day =)

I almost asked what was pi day, but I got it. Yessir.

I suppose you could call it a vanity day. But I didn’t do any cable crossovers  And I benched to bench not for pectacular chesticles, although those are always a welcome side effect :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, pi day, I’m sorta a nerd. Makes sense that I’m a chem major lol.

IMHO, you need to go heavier on the deficit work. I’ve personally never really got anything out of them either…until I started doing them, well, really fucking heavy, lol. And once I did, my off-the-floor strength did indeed improve significantly, I feel.

Try doing some dubs, trips, or singles w/ ~315. Or you could perhaps ramp up to a heavy topset (that’s what I did).

Good stuff going on here…I don’t even need to say “train hard,” do I?

I really appreciate the tip man. I had a feeling doing them w/ just 225 wouldn’t do much, or as much. So far I haven’t been feeling drained after my main worksets, so I definitely thinking upping the weight on the deficit pulls if feasible.

Maaaan, now I’m all psyched to have my next pulling session and do me some heavy deficit pulls!

Once again, I appreciate it man. Is there any other way to train, but to “train hard”? haha

Maybe don’t jump 110 lbs next time you go for a PR, and you might get it

Way to get your pump on for teh girlz though, that’s what it’s all about haha

Eh, just maybe.

Tis been a long time since I gone for teh pumpz.

Chem major? Wow… just wow.
Brains and curlz, you’re a force to be reckoned with.

What are you going to do with it?
The chem degree, not the force :stuck_out_tongue:

Haha I really appreciate the compliment :). But just because someone is trying to get a chem degree doesn’t mean they are smart haha. Although I’d like to think that I have at least some capacity to think. Right now the plan is to go to grad school after getting my BS. What I will do after is yet to be decided. As of now I’m really digging organic chem, but I still have a lot of other branches of chem to be exposed to, so we’ll see what else piques my interest. Thanks for asking.

Goblet squats (same drill as mountain climbers)
3 sets

Glute bridges

Planks
3 sets

Band pull aparts
3 sets

Chemistry Major? You’re the man. I’m currently in Gen Chem 2 because it’s required for my Kinesiology track, and it’s no joke. 90% of it is using math though which ain’t my thing haha. I hear Organic is a lot more memorization though? Is that so? I don’t have to take it thankfully, but once I’m done with Chemistry I go on to Physics so either way I’m in for some fun…lol

You do have to memorize a lot for organic chem, but you have to be able to use what you’ve memorized. So you gotta memorize and think also. And yeah, physics should be oodles of fun.

Eww too science-y in here
If you guys start talkin’ bout statistics, I’m boycotting this log =D

I’ve never been a fan of stats, so no worries  Plus I wouldn’t want you to boycott my log :frowning:

Took chem 1 and 2, that was enough for me haha. I didn’t think it was too bad, but I’m glad I don’t have to take organic chem.

Civil engineering major budday

Cycle 2, Week 1, Day 3
Wednesday 3/16/11

Front squat
5x155
5x175
5x195
6x3x205

5x10x135

That’s about it. Wasn’t really feeling it at the beginning, probably a combination of not enough protein and being up late last night. But once I started the 5x10x135 I started to hurt so good all over lol. Decided to go with front squats mainly because they feel a lot better and my power rack isn’t wide enough for me to use my grip for low bar squats. Basically when I try racking the bar, my hands get caught between the bar and hooks. I’m just going to estimate my FS max is the same as my bench, so the numbers will be the same. Man it was good to get some major leg volume after a long time. Also realized that if I turn my toes in more, it doesn’t stress my adductors as much.

On a random note, I was up late last night checking out the music scene. While it may not be very T-Nation like to be into indie rock, I must say I’m really into it. Ended up watching Two Door Cinema Club to kick off SXSW (this giant music and media festival down here in Austin). Listened to a pretty cool band that opened for them called Bad Veins.

@ashy: Organic tends to weed people out haha. I think I liked it even more because it weeded out all the annoying pre-med people. For some reason I just really am annoyed by pre-meds.

But I do have mad respect for engineers

Aww you’re too awesome, I won’t boycott it anyway.

Those are some nice front squats

Awww shucks, you are the inducer of blushing

Nice squatting… diggin the beastie boys in the background haha

Thanks man, and good ear

My high school sucks; they got rid of Honors Chem II. Dude, my former chem teacher’s, like, my best friend. :stuck_out_tongue:
