A Southern Revolution - The Log of DF and TBA

now I know what bands are. thanks for posting the vid! hope your hips get better?!!?

MMajor - yeah, those are the EFS Strong bands, bout 220-240lbs(?) of tension when fully stretched at the bottom, at the top I am not sure how much was taken off, it didnt feel like too much.

hlss09 - haha thanks for your kind words. Ive been on the road today so eating today wasnt normal - big shake for breakfast, had a big roast beef sandwich for lunch, had another big shake for a snack while on the road, and am going to eat with my girlfriend tonight so we will see what I can come up with for dinner - next normal day I will keep track and let let you know what all I eat

Ink - one of the funniest episodes of that show, had me in stitches

DD - I will def work on that, thank you

ALKu - thanks brother

BreStruction - thank you for your kind words, haha my hips are fine, they were just really tight after squatting

Why am I now hearing about your girlfriend?
What is she like? Does she lift too? Does your training flabbergast her as it does to us?

What is she like? Shes awesome. Does she lift to? Sort of, this summer when we are in the same city we are going to hit it hard when I can start showing her the ropes. Does my training flabbergast her? I dont know why yall are flabbergasted, I still got a ways to go. Thank you for the compliment though.

ME Bench

Back in Arkansas, back with my old group. We did reverse band bench, this was the first time they got to try it. The rack here is different than my one in Jackson, the bands ended up not having as much tension, so less help. We had a guy weight bout 190 hit 425 raw, barely missing 450, and another guy hitting 475 and missing 505 bout an inch from lockout. As for me, I used the shirt and had a so so day.

Warm ups

Reverse Band Bench w/gray bands
135 x some
225 x some
315 x 5
405 x 3
shirt on
475 x 1
505 x 1
535 x 1 (nailed it - missed this last time, and it was with tighter band tension)
550 x 2 x .9 (FUUUUUUUUU…missed it twice just an inch from lockout - no video, ended up to blurry to even learn from)

The second time it drifted back and my left shoulder felt like it erupted. It is feeling alright now, so thankfully no actual damage, but that ended pressing for me tonight. Finished up the rest fast, as my shoulder was burnin.

Pressdowns (various handles)
10 x 12-15

V Bar Pulldown
6 x 12-15

Wide Grip Seated Row
6 x 10

Widest Grip Pulldown /ss/ Machine Fly (handles low, back arched, kept tension off the shoulder)
2 x 20, 15

Ok now dude, see all those three digit numbers right there that start with “5”?

that is what’s flabbergastable

keep improving yes, but know.that someday I’ll catch you

Don’t know if its posted somewhere, but what briefs do you have? I’m contemplating getting some, was thinking I was going to hit 600 in wraps and belt then order in some briefs…thinking I will be in the 270 range by then.

I only wish my bench was as big as yours, good shit man!

BigDawg - they were given to me second hand, I will have to double check what brand they are, but I know they are single ply.

DE Squat and Pulls

Long day full of not enough good eating? Must be time to rage. Lifted at Powerhouse Gym in little rock, which I did not know existed till the other day. Suffice to day, I want to keep lifting here. Did box squats off of a slightly lower bench than normal, in a squat cage that was raised up a bit…ouch. I didnt want to spend time trying to figure up how to set up band resisted deadlifts, so I decided to do heavy singles, and ended up almost getting a legit PR.

Warm ups

Abzzzzz sit up machine cadoodle
3 x 20

lower back is pumped…ffffff

you need to work on humping that bar - get some exploding hip action Dixie!

you still beat the crap out of everyone though.

LWI

Hmm lower back pump feels sexy.

Uhm, I had a little… tuff, with band benching, to say the least.
What # DBs do you use when using bands on bench? I considered giving up, I don’t know if I have to use heavier DBs than 55s.
I really don’t want to waste another 20 minutes for no reason, and if I farmer walked 120s just to fail… I’ll be hella pissed.

Oh and awesome DL

That pull looked like it was easy until the top, nice! LWI.

Also, going to second what was said before about your walkout. I don’t walkout heavy squats, but when I was using the rack instead of the mono while I was injured, I had to walkout the bar. I would recommend just taking two big steps to set up, instead of the dancing around you seem to do before you set up. Take one foot back and to the side, hold it, then bring the other back and to the side in the stance you want. Taking 4-5 little steps will drain your energy, methinks.

nlmain - haha will do!

Nikki - I usually use at least the 75lb dumbbells for benching, at least the 95lb dumbbells for squatting or pullling

MostMajor - thanks bud, I’m tryin to catch up with you. Regarding the walkout, I will definitely start paying attention to that, I gotta quit tap dancing into place

HUMP IT!!!

Hitching notwithstanding, that was still a beastly pull.
I’m impressed you kept at it. That bitch was coming up, come hell or high water. LHI. (Lockout Hump It)

Hey DF ! Where is Arkansas do you lift? I know some PL’ers in the Russelville area.

Great Squat on 725 Rev band, great depth too.

On the 585 pull, shoulders may have been a little too far over the bar to start, arch the back a bit more. Shoulders too far forward will make getting the hips through a lil’ difficult.

I’ll be following along…any meets in the near future?

Thanks DF, that raised my confidence in trying it out again on Tuesday.

I saw someone who looks exactly like you benching yesterday. Well almost, I imagine that’s how you’ll look if you weighed 140.
But he had the beanie and everything. Ha!

Nice pull DF now work your lockouts man and you will easily have raw 600lb pull.

Saturday

Absolutely mentally wasted, guess the week was just catching up. Just managed some light weight stuff to get blood flowin (light bench, light rows, shoulders etc) and did 20 minutes of incline treadmill.

Now…

MiM - yes mam, will do!

Racer - LHI? LOL.

lil power - Actually I currently do not lift in Arkansas, I’m in law school in Jackson Mississippi. I will back in Arkansas this summer however. Thank you (regarding the squat), and thank you for the advice on the pull, I will work on that for next time. As for possible meets, the only two going on in Arkansas anytime soon both interfere with school, and right now thats gotta come first, but I am keeping my eyes and ears open.

Nikki - me weighing 140? sweet Lord above, I have not weighed that since elementary school

HR - thanks brother, will do.

DE Bench

Had a quick session today cause of the drive back from Arkansas. Bench felt heavy today, gotta get better leg drive while pressing. After benching, just did fast high volume accessories. Entire day was done in about 35 minutes (after warming up).

Warm ups

Band Resist Bench
185lb bar weight monster minis
6 x 3
205lb bar weight monster minis
3 x 3 (video - rough)
