They’re against your spaghetti’s meatballs, appearantly
Pretty funny, man. Thanks for that.
I love my people. Just glad they weren’t my parents, and I was only able to observe them and laugh about them as a kid.

It’s cause you’re Italian.
Holy Hell, that dude went OFF. Talk about pissed. I would disown my parents if they were like that. “We call you a dozen, 15, 20 times?” Fuck that.
LMFAO that was great

Imagine if it was a Puerto Rican guy. Jews actually like Italians.
“Funny”?
Yeah, had it not been that heartfelt and spontaneous. It really showed a different kind of racism: the one done by none race-sensitive group on another one such. Picture this: the father a christian caucasian white male and the boyfriend is a black dude from the 'hood. If it had been that, the father would be in prison, and/or have is ass sued for millions.
Still, the racism, the ostracism of the those ‘outside’ is the very same. Hatin’ is hatin’, if you catch my drift.

Uh, how precisely are you going to throw a man in prison or have his “ass sued for millions” for insulting a fictional black man?

Or black. I didn’t find it funny at all except for how the DJ was throwing responses to the dad. That much had me laughing. I have never experienced anything like that. My parents would have never said anything like that and wouldn’t have said anything negative regardless of what race the girl was I brought home as long as she was “decent” and smart.
Religion, however, is a completely different story. I believe like Chris Rock once said,
Whatever you into, your woman
gotta be into, too, and vice versa…
or the shit ain’t gonna work.
lt ain’t gonna work.
That’s right. lf you born-again,
your woman gotta be born-again, too.
lf you a crackhead,
your woman gotta be a crackhead, too…
or the shit won’t work.
You can’t be like, “l’m going to church, where you going?” “Hit the pipe!”
That relationship ain’t going nowhere.
Two crackheads can stay together forever.
Honestly, it doesn’t bother me. I’ve heard horrendous shit. Racial slurs and outright bigotry don’t even register for me anymore. I don’t look Jewish at all, people have said terrible things to my face assuming I was cool with it.
Everyone just assumes I’m a Catholic because of my ‘dark features.’ The only time I’ve had a bad reaction to anything racial is when some old chicken legged fuck called a waitress I’ve known for a while a nigger, me and the gigantic Haitian cook scared the guy within an inch of urinating on himself when we threw him out.
The thing, and it’s just one thing, that got to me at all about this was that the girl seems to laugh it off and find it acceptable. I understand respect for your parents, but if my mother was like that woman we would have had a parting of ways a long time ago.
The girl obviously knows there’s something wrong with it, she’s calling a radio station to prank them and show how out there they are, yet she seems to find little of it actually objectionable. Amazing the concessions in standards you’ll make for family that you wouldn’t make for other people.

Very true. Then again, maybe her tactic was effective in some way Perhaps hearing themselves as the public would can start some kind of change. On the other hand, I have found that most people over the age of 35, unless dynamically opposed to stagnation throughout their lives, are least likely to change their point of view.

Of course, unless the DJ were a white man imitating a black man, it would not be a fictional black man being insulted, would it?
I suppose it would be politically incorrect to refer to the girl’s parents as “Judeofascists”, wouldn’t it?

I do think you might have a point there, but from the way the thing went I didn’t get the feeling that was her intent. That might have been a beneficial side effect, but it seems more like she was doing it for a laugh than anything.
The older people get the more set in their ways they are is completely true, and something that is unfortunate. If anything, the older you get the more freedom you’d have to do things you aren’t capable of when you’re younger, and that is the best time for learning if anything. I hope to avoid that whole downward spiral of ignorance and self-righteousness as I age.

Even if the DJ was black, there is no grounds for a lawsuit of any kind, and there is nothing illegal there. Racism is not illegal. Racism, when ‘applied’ towards any function that is directly regulated by the government, city or state (housing, work place and hiring, public schools, etc) is illegal.
If your boss was a racist, there’s nothing you could do about it besides put pressure on HR and people higher up in the food chain, but it’s not technically illegal to believe something unless those beliefs directly impact and discriminate against someone else in the work place.
The only thing that could be sketchy would be a lawsuit by the presumed black DJ in a hypothetical situation for what would essentially be libel, but a case like that wouldn’t go anywhere because 1) it’s a public figure and it has to be ‘actual malice’, 2) the information has to be proved false, 3) the segment itself is a comedy segment, and parody is a defense, though in this situation it would be reversed against the plaintiff.
I recongize Canadian laws are different, and closer to the English system which is absolutely horrible, but in America that would be an unwinnable case. It wouldn’t be tried anyway, because people would be worried about submitting people for the segment if they did file a lawsuit in this magical hypothetical situation.
It’s funny to listen to, but it made me feel sad… i’m often the guy (due to race) having to deal with girls parents (who are different race!)
Though, it is an ironic humour…
You hit the nail on the head Dweez: canadian laws are different. I’m not the best to explain the details here, though.
Let’s just assume my example was real, that the DJ indeed personified a black dude. Black people rights league could accuse the father and sue him; public power could publicly blame him; media would make a show out of it.
I can tell for sure cause it happened recently here. I psychiatrist quoted, in a popular talk-show, a sociological study made in america that said had black people were, on average, a lower IQ than white people. Well, he got sued. Don’t know who won, or even if it is still ongoing, but no matter; he still got the inconvenience of paying a lawyer, testify, etc.
He was vilified in the media, and no one called him to let him defend himself. The funniest came when a journalist finally had the bright idea of looking that study up. The ones with the highest IQ wasn’t the caucasian, as was expected, but the asians. The guy was treated as a racism scum despite the fact that he merely quoted a study.
Now just imagine that someone had expressed just such feelings on radio…
