Solid, do you think all of the time spent focused on pressing has carried over to bench? Or too soon to say?
I can only assume that’s what it is, as I’ve barely benched at all this year. Whatever it is, feels good and makes me want to try for a 225lb bench as a goal!
6/16 evening
Swam 10 laps. Winded, either because I’d eaten recently or because I’ve gotten out of shape (?) Or maybe I was pushing faster/harder than usual.
Really need to get some jogging in, but life has been stacked against being out of baby-holding distance when not at work. Perhaps tomorrow morning.
Forced deload coming up as I am ![]()
on Friday (after I press).
Should do whatever i can meanwhile.
I didn’t have it in my training for over a year
6/17 early morning:
2.1 mike run.
Definitely in good shape, this wasn’t stressful and I didn’t feel winded at all.
Weight hasn’t really moved, I don’t know if that’s good or bad… I’m eating insane amounts of fat. Feeling healthy, elbows just about recovered from the row madness last Saturday, legs still stiff from Monday but much better.
I don’t think I was aware you were eating this way. Are you restricting carbs? Seems like you’re in an amazing groove right now, especially considering having a newborn man. It’s awesome!
Thanks!
I began restricting carbs incrementally throughout the first few months of the year. Definitely including when you suggested giving up beer would help reduce elbow inflammation.
By end of may I was close to 0 carbs except incidentals (like from nuts) so close to a DW diet.
The past few weeks I’ve loosened that restriction a little just to get more calories and try anything to recover. A couple Roadhouse roll binges, a couple bowls of cereal, a little juice (not much), a beer where socially appropriate.
But I’ve been doing something weird… lol… drinking heavy whipping cream. Multiple days in the last week I’ve drank 16oz (1600 cal of pure fat). Idk what it means but my body is telling me to drink it after leg days.
And loading my coffee with a tbsp of coconut oil too Haha. So I should be obese and heart diseased by now right?
Ya man, it has really helped me feel fresh and reduces the chances of feeling absolutely trashed. Glad it helped! I also have been deviating from “perfection” lately, mostly due to social pressures and, honestly, because I just want to let loose after long weeks of work haha.
I really need to nail down some additional food though because somehow I’m losing weight even with reduced training volume… So that needs to be addressed at some point…
That’s wild, but if it works, it works!
I love seeing how other people eat because it gives me ideas to add into what I do, but I don’t think I’ll be adding that haha. It’s cool that this style of eating seems to work wonders for some folks (@T3hPwnisher you and I, and I believe @ChongLordUno is eating similarly as well). It is just so easy and seems to produce some amazing results.
I was gonna say…back a few years ago when i was hardcore on keto, and bordering a carnivore diet, i was doing some weird stuff like drinking whipping cream or even olive oil. My dieting at that time got kinda strange but i got to a lifetime leanest…and lightest i had been in a very long time.
6/18, Friday
10 rounds, 95lb:
-5 press
-5 front squats
These were every 2:30 on the 2:30 except I had a 15- minute work call right in the middle, between rounds 6 and 7.
In a major time crunch as always so that bare minimum is all I can do.

later this morning so deload coming up.
Weight is the same.
Check in photo:
Ah, the rare and wonderous newborn man.
Yup, Benjamin Button style.
Are you getting the snip
Let us know how it goes man, I’m probably going to get it myself
Good work dude.
Hope you recover quickly.
Looking phenomenal in these photos dude, it’s so good to see the results of hard work and consistency. Hope the op went well!
@dagill2 @alex_uk @ChongLordUno
It is done. For me, it was… very unpleasant.
Doctor said most people don’t feel it so badly, everyone’s nerves are wired differently though.
Taking the week off training will be good, I expect. I’ll post updates though.
At the moment I’m in no pain, but I do have a bit of the sensation after you’ve been kicked in the balls, like a lingering deep ache.
However quick you recover don’t let on, milk it for lounging around gains and making sure the Mrs picks up after you! ) Although given the newborn I some how doubt this is even possible). I got less then 24 hours of lounging - my household don’t do sympathy.
I wish you a speedy recovery, but honestly, though most things in life – including medical procedures – pose risks, I would not rank a vasectomy high on the list. Especially compared to female birth control and sterilization. I don’t say that to belittle your experience. I mean that more as assurance. In fact, I want more to say that I genuinely think it’s awesome you did that. I wish more men would take responsibility here and not deem male birth control taboo. Apologies if too political.
You’ll be back at it before you know it!
The doctor I had complete mine liked to knock his patients out so thankfully I didn’t feel a thing until afterwards.
I was sore for a few days (like you said, the kicked in the jewels kind of sore) but that was it.
Just make sure you go get the test done to confirm no more swimmers before fooling around with the missus.
I really want to believe that lounging gains are real. My shoulders have been cranky ever since that press PR weeks ago, and I never gave them a break, pressing 3x/week minimum.
So hopefully thos deload is well-timed to let my shoulders overcompensate if that’s a thing.
I’m keeping carbs lowish as I’m not expending much energy, and I would say total calories are dropping off significantly too, but I’m not counting.
Plan at the moment is to keep away from weights this whole week, then next week hit the big basics at low volume, then jump back onto the program at full speed after that.
