A Friendly Challenge - Battling Program ADD

Bro split. Squats and leg presses once a week (or every other week), several other days dedicated to benching, arm work, and abzzz.

The secret Santa sounds fun. However I think only for a very limited time span.

I’d be up for a 6 week cycle of some kind of insanity of someone else’s choosing come the new year. I think a shorter time frame would open the door slightly for people to really try something new as well. I think if it was a 4 month challenge secret Santa style, most people will just get given a program straight out of their own logs because no-one would want to inflict anything awful on them for that length of time. 6 weeks (ish) allows you to set a real challenge and for people to really push themselves.

I like it, and it seems to be the consensus.

Proposal: graduates of the commitment challenge qualify to opt-in to the secret Santa challenge, which will kick off the new year. That should set you up to know how you want to approach the transformation 2020 if you want to do that.

I’m up for that 100%

I feel sorry for the poor fucker that has to have @T3hPwnisher or @flappinit choose for them though.

That does sound better. Give the PL’er the BB’er program, or vice versa. It’ll change things up but not totally derail their possible goals.

I like to think most of the guys on here are mature enough to actually try and find a program to challenge people in the right way, not just try and be sadistic with it. Since everything’s open, I think any obvious douchery would get called out pretty quickly.

I would totaly give someone tlgains’ ā€œfriend’sā€ program lol

It sounds like @TrainForPain just volunteered to run the next challenge! I like it for a shorter period than four months. I think participants should post their goals as well. That would give ā€œSantaā€ a chance to pick something that at least helps them out.

I think it’d be cool to pick a program that might shock them a bit, but still works towards their goals. And it doesn’t have to be crazy. Here are my early thoughts:

  • Force them to use new equipment (if possible) - like DBs instead of barbells
  • Change their training split - bro split x 6 days vs full body x 3 days
  • High reps for someone who never goes over 5 reps
  • Speed up the slow lifter with set rest periods

For six weeks, this could be a great way to just shock the body and reset things. If you’re in the T-ransformation Challenge then all that matters (to most of us) is burning fat while maintaining muscle so just about anything will work.

To be continued…

But why wouldn’t I give the greatest gift of all?

If I were to receive your gift then I would require that it come along with gift cards to my orthopedic surgeon.

Because you’re not built like Santa. This is where I come in…

My experience with corrective surgeries is that you’ll move faster with fewer parts. It’s kinda like being a rally car.

Ok I’m in for the Secret Santa in january ahah

Perhaps ā€œSecret Satanā€ would be more appropriate…

See, this shit right here is what scares about this whole secret thing

Could people who train at home and only have barbells/DB’s say ā€œhey, no machines for me pleaseā€, or ā€œI have a job and kids, no more than 4-5 days a week for me?ā€

Or not since it’s so short?

I’m not worrying about any of that til next year. But I think if y’all give parameters then your Santa could/should comply. I think everyone can agree that we want each other to succeed so there’s no reason to give someone something they can’t handle.

It’s rather telling that, in the program about ADD, people are already fixated on what to do AFTER the challenge rather than the challenge itself…
