A Friendly Challenge - Battling Program ADD

I wanted to expand on the parameters a bit. I’ve been conversing with folks through training logs and realized that I need to make something clear.

If you want to run something like 5/3/1 that has multiple templates and take advantage of that, then go for it. All I ask for the sake of the challenge is that you post your plan in advance and adhere to it. This only applies to programs like 5/3/1 with built in variation.

Running CT’s Best Damn Program for Naturals for eight weeks and then switching to The Complete Power Look program would not count. Those are too different.

The possibilities aren’t quite limitless, but there can definitely be planned variety. 5/3/1 allows this easily. Deep Water has a beginner, intermediate, and advanced plan. Following those in order would definitely count.

I’m planning on doing some of Ryan Fischer’s High Intensity Interval Bodybuilding (HIIB). He sells the programs in 30 day chunks. I’ll be running the DB version 1st, then HIIB Vol. 2, and then HIIB - 100 for the final stretch. If that doesn’t get me to the end of the year then I will just start over with one of those three.

Clear as mud?

So make a plan, stick to the plan, profit, yes? Got it.

I’m in just to see how long I can run HIIB 100 repeatedly without either dying or becoming a Spartan.

Although academy training starts mid September which could derail things. Oh well. I’ll make it happen.

I should be finished HIIB 2.0 by September 1

Some of the dumbbell workouts look gross. I get a little nauseous reading them.

Deceptive little combos those ones

I’d really like to do this challenge but have no idea how to add the committed tag to my log… anyone mind giving a dummy some help? On mobile btw, not sure if that matters.

Go to the top of your log and click the pencil.

Select a “tag” here. Committed should pop up when you start to type it.

Awesome thank you

In on this! This is exactly what I need right now.

I’ve started, so I’ll post now I guess. I’m thinking it jives with the intended criteria.

Fuck it, my goal at the beginning of the year was a 550 deadlift and 245 overhead. Let’s see how close I can get to it!

Sorry @Frank_C, feel free to unlike lol.

I’m not understanding the edit. Does that mean you’re not running that program?

I am running the one above, after slightly modifying the one I originally posted after thinking about it for a bit. In the earlier version I had reversed the bench/squat and dead/press frequency in the second run-through.

I said at the beginning of the year that I had deadlift and overhead goals, and I need to stay true in chasing those!

But hey, it’s not September 1 yet right so I’m good? Lol.

Correct!

The whole reason I’m doing this is because I’ve been changing my training plans once very 3-7 days since I can’t use my right arm. I write something out and think it looks good. I actually execute it and hate it or it hurts something else so I immediately change it. I’m committing to running something for almost four months once I’m cleared for full training.

Love it man. I mean, not the arm thing. I too have been a wayward soul in the training universe, and my progress trajectory shows it.

Ok I’m in. It might be a good incentive for me, especially for the diet part. I can only start the second week of september since right now I’m finishing what I had started and the first week I’m on holidays. That’ okay?

I’m planning on doing at least 4 months of Conjugate. Maybe I should start a log?

Sounds good. I’m starting that week, too. You should definitely start a log.

Same. I am determined to finish what I’m currently doing! It would violate the spirit of this challenge to quit my current program to start a program to be compliant to that program… now my head hurts.

Anyone interested in the secret Santa version? If so, with @Frank_C’s blessing, maybe just send a post saying you opt in and we can create a post with a list (our virtual hat with names)?

I would do secret Santa - opting in.

I hesitated to the secret Santa but now way. If I get a program without variation there is NO WAY I can hold on for even 2 weeks

Secret Santa program gifting does sound pretty neat. I’ve got a pretty clear template for mine I want to use, otherwise I’d join. Maybe we can do this at the end of the year/beginning of next again secret Santa style for anyone brave enough to try. Keep up the holiday cheer and all.

I like that. Let everyone stay consistent with a program they actually want to do for now, and when you’ve made it to the holiday season we could do Secret Santa for the Jan. through March/April period.

This idea seems dope. I wonder what program you guys are gonna give me LOL.
